Big Kick for Derrick
Big Kick for Derrick
Teg eases in for second, with Ritz just behind. they look SO HAPPY. So happy for them
Derrick closes well and really wasn't far behind Ritz at all. He'll regret not going with the three qualifiers earlier.
rupp - 13:56 / 13:30
ritz - 13:56 / 13:40
bro hug between teg and rupp.

Teg 2nd after a 65.5 last lap. Ritz really died at the end and Derrck closed in 62.51 and got kind of close to catching him. I mean it was never in doubt but kudos to Derrick.
4:13.2 last mile for Rupp
Rupp will lap them both! Mark my word!!!!!!
2nd and 3rd didn't matter. Rupp only one with a chance in London.
I'm surprised Derrick didn't make it, but it makes sense as that was very close to his fastest, and in not very good conditions. I'm curious to see the times.
TEG
Chris will definitely have his Olympics, but so, so happy for Teg and Ritz, who will be past their prime next time. Awesome group going to London...

Wow. Derrick is watching thousands of dollars fly out of his wallet. This sucks for him
Never even thought of this but yeah not making the team is costly for him.
Jumping ahead to the women's race, Shalane Flanagan has a shiny forehead.

I disagree. He would have ended up like Puskedra if you went with those guys from the gun.
Great to see Teg step up when he needed to.
Lee's Summit to London
Teg can run a 10k

Thanks for all the comments and photos. I especially like this black and white.
Women's race next!

How sad for you that you have to pretend you're so jaded that making the Olympic team and representing your country doesn't matter.
ritz was spent at the end ... not a good sign.
Teg and Ritz clearly not even close to peaking sharpness this season, so all upside in London for them...low, low 27s are very possible. Rupp of course..we know will be in the mix for medal.
that was a good comment about derrick having a hard time beating the 3 best american born 5,000 meter runners ever. american distance running is in a good place.
...Because he more worried about the standard than the pace. I don't think this was bad at all. The Olympics will be a different type of race; and a month away.

He had to push it to get the A. At least he made it. Big accomplishment considering his troubles since 2009.
