Mary Cain is one of three high schoolers in the 800 start list! With Weissenbach and Wilson already in the 800, I would like to see her end up in the 1500 and take a crack at Hasay's record!

They would all have run close to their PR to make it out of the 1st round.
If I were Cain's coach I'd have her run her normal strategy and go for a fast time and PR Friday. That should be the goal - if she can run 2:01 or scare sub 2:00. The next round is just icing on top. The goal should be a fast time and a confidence builder / tune up for World Juniors.
It would be a mistake to have her run 2:03-04 to make the next round, then be toast from Friday and not run well. She's young and they should capitalize on fresh legs the first round, pushed by good competition.
Ajee Wilson should make it through fine, but Weissenbach will have to improve on this year's runs. 2:04 won't cut it.
Anyone know is Ajee also running at Worlds?

She can run her usual race and then actually have someone pushing her the 2nd lap. That could be a good thing.
What are the B and A standards for the women's 800m?
