See has a good chance to be top three at the trials. What I like about his chances is that I think he can go 1:45.9 in the 800. That should give him enough coasting speed to set him up for a strong last 700 in the 1500 and the 3:34 he will need to get him through the first round in London.
Jeff See 3:35.21

Yea didn't Craig Miller have some big hole in his heart. Like his brother had to save his freakin heart from exploding on some run they were doing?
If I remember correctly, he had a collapsed lung in high school, and missed the end of his last XC season.
He and Bolas have run a lot of races in the 3:37- 3:38 range, the last couple of months.
I think the 3:36:xx they just ran might be PRs for both of them. -

Only four men have run 3:30 and below in the last two years: Kiprop, Kiplagat, Chepseba and Souleiman.

Three of those 4 times were run THIS year. You likely have to beat one of those three guys if you want a medal. It took two years for someone to run 1500 faster than Webb ran in 2007. But since then, the world times have been getting faster.
The world standard is faster now. -

no.
its the same as it was thirty years ago. -
There was about a 4 year period after El Guerrouj and Lagat passed their primes in the 1500 that the world standard was lower (over 3:30).
But 5 people have run sub-3:30 since 2009. And two of those people--Kiprop and Kiplagat--may have a shot at El Guerrouj's times if they can run 3:28 (not a big jump any more, and El G did this at the same age) this year.
US people who want to believe that 3:35 is ANYWHERE by world standards need to wake up. -

Very underated training group in Columbus (soon to be Furman) that may be behind Nike-sponsored Oregon groups they way running right now. Are they a USA sponsored training group?
Dan Huling (8:13 st, 13:22, 3:37)
Jeff See (3:35)
Brian Olinger (8:19 st, 13:23, 27:50)
Cory Leslie (1:47, 3:39, 8:32 st)
They'll all go to Furman to be with their cheating/thieving/lying coach. They best realize that you are the company you keep. -

I have followed his career through high school and college and Jeff See also has never been in a fast 1500 in his life until this year with Oxy and then rabbitted by teammates last night.
Been stuck at 3:40 maybe due to thyroid condition, but moreso never getting into a fast time-trialed race like many of the other Americans.
Led the last 350 meters with Bolas, Leer, Batty, Miller all lined up behind him.
Yes, the main reason this is such a large improvement is its his first healthy season out of college. In 2011 he ran a mile or and 3k or indoors but then missed all outdoors not racing until sept. See has always had the ability to break 340 for a few years, just not the freedom to run fast paced races fresh at the right time without rounds. -
Those are some pretty strong words considering YOU and no one seems to know the REAL story......let's stick to the important thing at hand and that's Jeff See got the Olympic A standard and that's awesome!!

I don't think Olinger is going....
-
Clearly the message here is that in order to run fast, you must first compete in the Ryan Shay Memorial Mile Run in Charlevoix, MI. See is a 2-time (3-time?) champ. I'd say he owes race organizers up there some props for, you know, getting him ready and stuff...

Bayer is racing tonight in Bloomington. Race goes off 945p eastern time.

Results on Bayer's run tonight?
-
@iutrackxc
Fernandez 337
Bayer 338 -
German Fernandez 3:37.76, Andy Bayer 3:38.07, Rob Finnerty 3:38.60. Oly Trials A's for all three! #iutf12 Headed to #TrackTown2012

The 1500 was awesome here last night, but I thought Olinger finally looked like old self rabbiting 2k steeple. Was well ahead of the field in 5:33 but looked super smooth except for his water jumps. I assume he will run steeple and not 10k at olymmpic trials.

Outside Africa 3:35 is considered a very good time. How Englishman have run the A standard?
-
This year? Mo, Murray and Baddeley that I can think of - for a country that size, 3 ain't bad!

I heard there was this guy last year that could barely get under 3:34.5 that actually won a World Championship medal. -
Yeah, you'd think he'd quit but guess again...Huge boost for him 3:37.6 heading to the Olympics for Puerto Rico.
