Last night I had about 5 beers and 4 stiff screwdrivers and was feeling good, so I said hell with it and did a nine mile run. Now there is little novelty in running drunk, you say - you could be hit by a car or run smack dab into a parking meter like a buddy of mine once did while unsucesfully trying to escape the law after kifing a street sign (he was no runner though). Yet I had an amazing run, just floating along the dark streets like nobodys business. I burst into song a few times but otherwise behaved normally. I noticed my breathing was loud and smelly I'm sure but I felt GREAT. Anyone had a similar experience?

ha ha ha, yes! my teammates and i could often be seen running home from parties at school/in the city. for some reason we always felt faster/smoother/quicker through the streets while intoxicated. ??? prolly because it nums the body? i dunno. very dehydrated the next day though. sucked.

LOL. Ah yes. I still have vivid memories of my 1:39 800m. run in street shoes and jeans. I had to run that fast to make last call. Like an idiot, I ran actual track meets sober and never went faster than 1:56.

I use to run up to 15k's home in my 'dancing' shoes after a night out on the town. I once caught an ambulance with a comma'd friend to hospital and then ran back to town to tell my friends - everyone was drunk. This habit increased my weekly mileage considerably.

running to and from the bar is the best part, next to the drinking part

Back in the day, some on our CC team would do 15 (miles) at 2 (a.m), absolutely shit-faced, on the rural roads outside of town. We did this at least 5 times, often in non-running shoes/gear. Always felt great, like we were flying, but when we put a watch on it, we were always about 10-12 minutes slower than when we'd do the loop sober=> Must've been alcohol-induced inefficiency.
