The aptly titled

Oh Cindy Crawford is in it too ;)
Lee Greenwood, "Proud to Be an American" (that might not be the name of it)
What's that song, it goes like:
All is quiet on New Year's Day
A world in white gets underway
I want to be with you
Be with you night and day
Nothing changes on New Year's Day
On New Year's Day
That'd be up there.
this is the correct answer.....American Pie......i do not think McClean had any other hit and American Pie is still played aaaaaallllllll the time and it is still covered (Madonna, for example). It is a good song, which maybe disqualifies it.
Tommy Tutone 867-5309 is also a good choice. Still played all the time and never had anything even remotely close to another hit. Carl Douglass )Kunf Fu Fighting) and Terry Jacks are good calls too.

So far I've seen nothing to convince me that the OP was wrong about Cyrus.
The typo in the OP (siring not signing) is also priceless.
No typo. He did sire her. Did he not?

Cursing at your wife
You're a discontented runner
With a regimented life
I've no doubt you dream about
The times you'll never run
But I wish someone had've talked to me
Like I wanna talk to you
I've been to Turkey and Albuquerque
And anywhere I could run
I joined the team up in Oregon
And we fartleked in the sun
But I ran out of places
And friendly faces
Because I had no natural speed
Oh I've bought all the merchandice
But they'd never sponsor me
Well played, sir. And this song makes me vomit.

I think VH1 even had them as the top 1 hit wonder. They opened a concert w/ "The Final Countdown" then played it as their encore.
This reminds me of what I will include as my entry. Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs with "Stay" (which Jackson Browne later had success with).
I remember going to an event 20 years ago or so where they were the entertainment and they opened with it (short version), played it in the middle (longer version) and closed with it (even longer version).
Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger.
I was avoiding responding because there is no definitive answer, but Chelsea Dagger? Are you retarded, that whole album was quality and Chelsea' Dagger wasn't even the best song.
Oh, +1 for Don Mc, Vincent doesn't even count as secondary, they were sympathy buyers after AmPie.
Haven't gone through all 8 pages but has this one been mentioned yet? Heard it on XM radio last night.
Tommy Tutone
867-5309 (Jenny)
I remember it causing quite the uproar in that they used a real phone number.
