Anyone ever read 'The Lottery' by Shirley Jackson?
What did you think? I think the entire story is a close copy to the reaping scene in The Hunger Games.

The Lottery was written years ago, so I also wondered if Hunger Games writer took inspiration from it.
The Lottery was made into a short film which I watched in junior high in the 1970s.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhh, be quiet, a lot of people haven't figured out that the Hunger Games is basically the stealing of about 4 different stories and merged together. Shhhhhhhhhhh.
Love it!!
I remember our English teacher in HS assigning that. I can still see him smiling nearly 30 years later.

I see your point, and the point of a lot of other people. If she did in fact use inspiration from these sources, it would have been nice to give credit for further reading. I think Collins did have particular goals in writing a story such as The Hunger Games... so why not inspire further reading?
Didn't everyone read 'The Lottery' in school?

Shhh, don't tell anyone, I think James Joyce might have stole some stuff too.
Shheeesh. The next you guys are going to try to pass off is that video games are stealing parts from different books.

Oh thank you so much, I didn't know if it was "stole" or "stolen", but I just made a choice and went with it. I really appreciate your helping me with my English grammar!
