Bekele has not had a full year of healthy training under his belt, he got hurt again after his WL 10k. Thus, this is even more worrysome for the other competitors since he is just getting training under his belt again and already improving rapidly. Assuming he stays healthy until the Olympics, he should contend for medals in both the 5k and 10k.
Source? Not that I don't believe you, I have just not heard this and would like to hear more.
I agree that this makes Bekele even more dangerous, because perhaps he IS out of shape, but will truly round into form extremely quickly.
It appears he is definitely in better shape now than he was at last years world championships. I suspect in a month he will be in equal shape to what we saw in Brussels and in another month after that, he'll be in his unbeatable form.
It's a joke that Farah could beat Bekele in his prime. Nobody could touch Bekele in his prime. El G got the best of him once, but I guarantee that Bekele could have beat him had they raced again the next week . . . he just did not run a smart race which is a rarity for him.
