When that shit bogged down, Kiprop got into all kinds of bad postions and had to bail out the back to get around. He definitely had more steam in him.

Are you guys kidding me? Talking about 3:46 or 7 being too fast. How about that 3:29 1,500?! You know that concerts to 3:46. There is absolutely no reason that with good pacemaking we shouldn't have seen 3:46. But as usual, the pace went to shit and it became another shitty tactical mess with a 100 kick. Kiprop was very annoyed afterwards with the pace. He knows he's a 3:46 guy.
if he was annoyed with the pace.. he should've changed it -_-
So serious question: do you think Rupp could triple? His 1500 SB is 2nd only to Russell Brown, and he seems to have the racing savvy and aggressiveness that almost all the americans are lacking

Now is not the time to be blowing your load.
You are aware of meets like Payton Jordan, Mt Sac and OXY aren't you.
From a historical perspective Americans ran better when they stayed sharp for a long time - since indoor - than they do now with their "precise peaking."

Yes, I am aware of those meets. Remind me of all the great athletes that ran great times at those meets and then medaled at worlds or Olympics with even seemingly better performances.
After the Olympics Kiprop should make a serious attempt at a World Record. Pay big bucks to get great pacers if need be. I don't think he would get it. But man, he runs the most easy looking 56 second laps I've ever seen except for maybe El Guerrouj himself. At the very least there is no reason he should have a PB in the 1500M of only 3:29.
That was odd with Kiplagat. He had beaten Kiprop earlier albeit by knocking Kiprop off balance. Its like he ran into a wall the last 150M.

Not Kiprop's style, and not really Kiplagat's style, either. Both are reluctant to run on pacemakers, let alone push the pace. It's probably why neither of them will run the 3:27-3:28 and 3:45-3:47 that they are both capable of. That is unless, they can get one of younger 3:31-3:32 Kenyans to pace a race. This is the only time I can really remember Kiprop going out and running like he really wanted a time:
http://vimeo.com/28862087. He ran El G-type splits and still hit 3:30. He runs intelligently and they improve the pacemaking, a 3:27-3:28 should happen.
Thanks for the video! That was a good job by the pacemaker with 1:49 at 800. Legitimately, he was on pace for a world record. He didn't hold it together at all though and faded badly. He must have been frustrated after the race and resolved to run a lot of his next races more conservatively (see Doha).
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
