Kiprop fears Silas, Suleiman and the couple other 3:30 type Africans. However, he does respect a world bronze medalist. Who wouldn't? But Centrowitz isn't beating Kiprop any time soon.

Kiprop was not disrespecting Centro. He respect him, but he certainly doesn't fear him. Despite their almost equivalent ages, Asbel is a man compared to Centro, in terms of international experience.
I hope Carol Lewis is on the broadcast so she can say of Kiprop "He's very lean, very lanky" or words to that effect.
One day Kiprop will fear Centrowitz...

centro right now is type cast rightly as a championship runner. however, what is missing is the fact that this guy can run 330 also right now. and he can get the american record in the not so distant future.
centro had been fighting injuries on and off and if he gets a 2 year injury free training bloc going you'll see a lot of wins, not just popping up at the champs.
alsal will have the strength and speed figured out, and he's liable to have figured out better how not to over cook guys.
still the injury bug gets them all. you have to be lucky in that department.
after all the best athlete from the oregon group was wheating, but the through the luck of the draw it's centro on the podium... and it can all change in a season.
there is a lot of chaos involved.

disagree. He is rightly cast as a championship runner because he does incredibly well in championships given that he is not nearly one of the fastest middle distance runners in the world. And no he's not gonna be running 3:30 anytime soon, and most likely never. His PR is 3:31.96. So he's a 3:31-3:32 runner when he's been healthy and in peak form, and if he's had any slight injury problems he's a 3:33-3:36 guy. Sure if he can avoid any minor injuries like he might become a consistent 3:32 guy who can run 3:31 in a good rabbited race. You might see one 3:30 out of him in a couple years as his career PR. More likely you'll see a few more 3:31's and a bunch more 3:32-3:34's and a continuing great series of championship races out of him.
It's kind of funny that we finally have someone who can win medals and will probably be winning future medals except he's not at all a world beater. A little disappointing to me, I always figured you needed to be one of the top guys to win medals, it almost feels like a cheat for a consistent mid-3:30s guy to have won a bronze and silver in two WC's and 4th in the OG. But hey maybe I'll be wrong and he'll have a break out year and start running legit fast international times at some point.
