they haven't set them yet, check in a few months. Note the outdoor 5/10 standards will be fast compared to usual for D3.
This year they are changing the system they won't have qualifying times anymore it will be done like XC with regional championships to determine bids to the meet. (I don't know if this is for sure, but it is what my coach told me)
the regional system is not ready yet, but should be in the future. i think it is fair since the people that should go are the runners that are running fast closest to the championship. however, running a 5k and 10k right before the championship (depending on the time of regionals) would be a bit hard on those guys. i would hope that there would be two weeks between those meets.
as for the second post, i'm not sure how much faster the qualifying times will be. the times from the season were fast, but the championship times were slow. for example in the men's 5k there were three (or more) qualifiers under 14:25, but in the championship 14:51 would have been all American. do they base the qualifying time for the next season on performances throughout the year or on championship/all-American times? if it is based on the cahmpionship there will be little to no change in most events. the qualifying times the will really drop are on the women's side. the 800, 1500, 5k and 10k were the fastest events in years.
the ncaa should have the times posted before then end of cross country.
As far as I know, there will not be regionals for D3 this year.
Also, I believe in D1, for the 10K and decath, they are still using the same system of performance lists as has been used in the past due to the fatigue factor prior to nats. I would expect that D3 would do the same if they adopt the regional qualifing system.
This past year 14:51 was the winning time, not just all american. Still, I think that the standards will get a fair bit faster after the very deep D3 fields we saw last year.
the winning time at Nats has little to do with the time standards to get in. It has to do with how many people met the mark.
Also, D3 is definitely not using the regional system, that's D1 only.
