Another vote for Andrews trolling LetsRun. Bravo!
Anybody who is nuts enough to count and obsess over his steps has OCD, needs medication, and possibly hospitalization.

I think the existence and length of this thread demonstrates that Alan Webb has entered the distance running equivalent of "The [Mike] Tyson Zone" as defined by Bill Simmons, namely that almost any story you hear associated with the guy is at least somewhat believable based on past behavior. Admittedly, distance runner crazy doesn't hold a candle to boxer crazy, but still ...
Consider the following hypothetical Let's Run threads ...
"Webb runs 800m in all-comer meet BACKWARDS"
"Webb gets in shouting match with spectator"
"Webb to have multiple toenail transplant, hopes for better times as result"
You wouldn't automatically believe any of those headlines, but neither would you automatically dismiss them (as you would for, say, Manzano or Lagat or Brown), would you?
Alan Webb, welcome to the Tyson Zone. (And don't mind that weird-looking guy hanging around the door, that's just Fam - he's been trying to get in for a while.)
+1
You could tell me that Webb runs 3:48 at Pre or that he runs 4:18 at Pre, and they would both be believable to me.
If by "count his steps" he is keeping track of his steps with a pedometer, that is not too unreasonable. Although it is a waste of time. Spending mental energy making sure you are not wasting energy is kinda counter productive. The whole point of relaxing so that you recover from your training is to RELAX SO THAT YOU CAN RECOVER FROM TRAINING. It's easy to know if you are relaxing because you feel relaxed.
If however, AW is actually counting his steps then he clearly suffers from OCD. I don't say this to criticize him. If he really has OCD, he has a disease and needs treated.
If you want to discuss dedication, then we have to start with the epic 2 mile that was run by Sir Zaibitch at the 2008 bernards invitational. I mean to go through the last mile with more pain then dropping 10000 lbs on your balls is really a testament to the dedication of that young man. If you want to know dedication, how about the incredible strength to eat 26 snickers bars, 20 boxes of smores poptarts, 13 bags of kettlecorn, 12 lbs of lobster, 5 string cheeses, 69 chicken fingers, a watermelon, a bottle of 50+ one a day womens multivitamins, 33 small kittens, a king cobra, and his own hand.
Hey to be fair Alan Webb has never had to walk as many steps as the kid from Bernard's had to a graduation. He even did it with a spilled layg!
Yes he did eat an incredible amount that day, just adding to his legacy. But you forgot the 33 peanut butter sandwiches he ate. Unfortunately all that peanut butter got stuck on the roof of his mouth and now he talks like me
Hey sidenote here but can anyone take my boy Art Stubbs court case he was just adjusting his belt in a fire lane I don't see the crime there at all...
But back on this zabich character. Ryan showed a lot of heart after eatin 2 lbs. of pasta, 10 hot dogs, 30 buffalo wings, and the famous BigED's BBQ rack of ribs.
P.S. make sure to check out my newest video
Mandingo vs. Andrea aka Mrs. Zabich aka mrs. wetter than a waterhose aka OH RYAN YOU'RE F@CKING ME SO HARD! aka wet-wet
Mr. President please pardon Mr.Stubbs, adjusting your belt buckle is no crime. Does a belt buckle adjuster deserve to be in prison with convicted felons who shave their legs and rob banks? Also please don't deport him to germany because that is where a convicted statutory rapist is spending his summer. You probably already know this from his world famous blog, but he also drinks more than even a midget on his senior prom could possibly dream of.
This guy counted his steps during runs once counting 7,700 steps! http://www.runningthemind.com/articles/lucian-rosas-3-workouts-for-the-mind
Ooo I'm tall
I will see what I can do in regards to Mr.Stubbs. I also agree that adjusting your belt is no crime..even while carrying a massive wad of tissues. A man of his stature is very important to our country. I venture to say he is almost as important as the kid from Bernard's the once ate 37 snickers, 4.5 racks of ribs, 9 lobsters, 13 plasma tvs, 36 lbs of mayonnaise, 24 small children, and 14 ears of corn...all before running the legendary two mile at Bernard's. Just gutsy stuff there.
Ms millz you are extremely tall...however I would venture to say that even the height of your body is not nearly as impressive as how cool the ICB's are. I mean one of their members went to junior prom and was even able to run the mile leg of the dmr the day after. Just inspirational stuff.
Ms. Millz is sooooooo tall. However, I would have to agree with my idol johnny synz that her height to hotness ratio is not as impressive as the awesome to cool ratio of the ICB's. To even be considered for a position in the ICB's is an honor, to to actually be a part of them would be a dream come true. I was heard that if you are a member that you can get any chick you wanted. It was rumored to say it was like "taking candy from a small blind child."

Again I will assert that it's the principle behind the act that's troubling (over-analyzing every facet of his life) and thus using a pedometer is actually just as nuts as actually counting the steps himself.
So Robby said it was an exaggeration...how so? I don't know anyone that would exaggerate "I have a general idea of how long I'm on my feet each day" to "I count how many steps I take each day". If Webb is doing anything more than the former, it is concerning.
His mental shortcomings may be what has led to him to being able to run fast time trials, but it is unequivocally responsible for why he has never run well in an international championship.

"@Flotrack exaggeration lol"
Another bump for those that obviously didn't see it the first 2 times.
Mr. Obama, while you are issuing pardons would you mind helping out my boy Mike Jehle? But anyway, I had the honor of watching that epic battle in the 2 mile at the Bernards Invitational. And i can tell you he really did eat all that he claims. He was still licking the BBQ sauce off his fingers at the start of the race. Great stuff to watch.
Ps. I got a DOLPHIN
Not that I believe that about Webb, but is it really beneficial to avoid walking? It'd think that during all but the toughest training walking around would be a good thing.
