Track and field dies Kenyans will migrate to cycling and decathlons. We re going to kill all sports if that is the case.

More importantly, drugs should not be the most important thing in our LIVES. For you, the drug thing is more important than anything else; more important than being healthy; more important than respecting others, especially a top coach coming here to share with us; more important than improving; more important than learning how the best runners do their training; more important than living a good life of virtue, i.e. GOOD HABITS (read Aristotle).
What I'm saying is that YOU need to raise your standards, focus on yourself, on doing your best, and let the rest of us do the same.
Whatever.
But you have no rationalization, no reflection, you don't listen and think. so your assertions mean nothing. If you had something important to discuss instead of just potty mouth then maybe someone would want to listen to you.
Hmmm...if I had to pick between Letsrun pseudo-intellectuals...or a world class coach of athletics...damn this is a tough choice!
Just a quick recap--
Renato Canova says athletes from U.S, Morocco, Arab Countries, Ukraine ask him "which" drugs they need, not "if" they need drugs.
Canova believes young runners in Italy, the US, lack the determination, the mental toughness, to train as hard as the Kenyans.
It's this mental toughness, and his coaching (for his athletes) that's primarily responsible for their extraordinary success.

He said which "support" they need, not drugs. In other threads he has talked about non-African runners having a bad race and immediately wanting to get blood tests, take more vitamins, find a new strength regimen, run on more underwater treadmills, etc.

Drugs are not important to me at all. I rarely comment on the subject. However, when a top coach says he will put his hands on fire to prove his athletes are clean, and you spend all your time defending him (although you're astoundingly ignorant), it irks me. Canova chose to find the best physical specimens he could find and then he perhaps uses good training methods. Whether any of his athletes try to get unfair advantages from drugs is not known. You don't know it, I don't know it and Canova is not certain either. I will put my hands on fire if none of Canova's athletes have ever used PEDs. Nobody will call my bluff or Canova's either. You, J.R. are a blithering idiot who has his empty head in the sand. That is fine. Drugs are not the issue for a man of my brilliance. Idiocy is, and you're drowning in it. Canova is no idiot and he is shrewd enough to hoodwink morons like you.
I would like to correct myself. Canova may be certain whether any of his athletes have ever used PEDs, but only if he knows they have, as he cannot be certain that they have not.
Canova is Italian.

What did I do? I opened a pandoras box. This thread has taken a live of its own. I feel bad that I started this thread, if I had away I would delete it.
Cliff is right on this one.
Canova has in the past sptn a good amount of time claiming that drugs don't help 'top athletes'...
Then he said it doesn't help 'africans'....
Then oh well it might help Moroccons - but not kenyans and ethiopians...
Canova is a great coach, clearly. But if you think he actually believes this...well I guess I'm not surprised. It would be nice if it were true.

Lydiard's guys were together all the time. If one of them was off at a "specialist" regularly everyone would have known. Arthur was not going back and forth from New Zealand to Italy and having long stretches of time when he didn't know what they were up to.
False. Ron Davies lived and train in a distant place from Lydiard most of the time, which means it´s false what you say.
The Finn runners as well as Rod Dixon, John Walker, and some other kiwis, which their success some say it´s Lydiard contribution, they were not with Lydiard presence most of the time and Lydiard knew nothing what they took or they
did not.
If someone gives you a pill, it´s a pill in the 60s, like amphetamines, everyone can take it while go to the toilet room and anyone knews in the training group.
When Snell did run in US Lydiard was always there ? Just a question.
When the subject is Lydiard or transversal to Lydiard you 2 weights and 2 measures always, you aren´t able to be impartial.
However i keep on saying. The new biological passport that starts to be implemented puts a end to all that kind of doubts. I guess that most people and among sports and running community you didn´t realize what is the BIOLOGICAL PASSPORT, this new drug test system. 99% truth, like the ADN test.
I still believe the best thing about this thread is that the trolls and idiots will continue to believe there is rampant drug use in Kenya.
Which is great for them, because while the US obsesses over this supposed drug use, they train hard, run and win races...and keep testing negative.
So have at it, if you really think that there is some top secret drug regimen happening in this remote corner of Africa that produces an unusually large number of great runners, and not a single ones been busted yet..good for you!
I think a better question would be, what drugs are you on???
Renato, I'm impressed with your patience..no wonder you're a good coach!
I'll say this again and again and use the same example. Yuki Kawauchi has run a marathon (2:08:37) faster than every single American except for 2 guys (1 natural born) despite 1) having the consensus definition of "little natural talent", 2) working a relatively full time job, 3) being born and training at sea level, and 4) running an average of 90mpw at most. This board is pretty unanimous in its opinion that Kawauchi is clean.
Think about it. Let's assume (very safe to do) that he is clean. He has run faster than every single American (except potentially 2) who has ever cheated (blood doped, taken EPO/CERA, etc). Let's not be naive and think that there have been no American cheaters. Really really think about this... He has PRs of 13:59/29:02/1:02:18!! Is it really that difficult to conceive of someone who can naturally run 13:00/27:00/59:30, was born at altitude, and runs at least 50% more mileage to be able to run at least 2-4 minutes faster than 2:08:37??
You are not very bright. You write that "this board is pretty unanimous in its opinion that Kawauchi is clean," and "let's assume (very safe to do) that he (Kawauchi) is clean." I guess we can do away with drug testing and just take a poll on Letsrun to determine if there are any cheaters. WADA moron.
Huh? He has a good point. Why is it perfectly believable that a guy like Ryan Hall can run 2:06, but PREPOSTEROUS that runners who are faster than him over EVERY OTHER DISTANCE would also be faster at the marathon? No, it's "AlCAR" and EPO and Winstrol and whatever else
Do I know whether or not Africans use drugs? Of course not. I'm sure some do, and I have suspicions about certain athletes. But the argument that they must be using simply because they're fast is inane.

You aren't very bright, either. I NEVER said anybody was using drugs. The moron you have just agreed with said that this 2:08 Japanese runner is clean because the Letsrun morons have decided he is. That is what I took issue with.
So it's no longer convenient for you to insist that Davies and Snell and Davies did all of their training together as you've done here for months if not years? What changed your mind?
You're either an excellent troll or can't read between the lines. If the former, bravo! If the latter, there's no hope for you.
