Yes, I remember it. I think they still make it.
They do still make it, and I can't remember where I last saw it for sale because I'm an old fart.
Both Mtn. Dew and Mellow Yellow reminded me of pond scum, and I drank them enthusiastically with this in mind.
Back in the day, the soda companies used to have contest where they'd print a code or a prizeword on the bottom, inside of the can. You'd drink the soda and then look inside the can to see if you've won anything. I remember my sister winning $100 from a Mello Yello...probably in the late 1980s?

I saw it this weekend at a Hardees hamburger joint in suburban Des Moines. I went with the Coca Cola, though, so I can't testify as to its alleged urine like color.
I mostly see Mellow Yellow in vending machines or the soda machines at fast foods places.
The last time I had Mello Yellow was in May of 1988. I was studying for my Russian exam and had about 11 hours of sleep in 4 days. I got a six pack of Mello Yellow from the school cafe because it had the highest caffeine content of what they sold. I decided to see how quickly I could put away all 6. I got down 4 but couldn't finish the fifth one. I haven't had one since. I have a hard enough time even looking at the logo.
Hey, anyone here remember that it should be '70s, and not 70's?
The threads about Mellow Yellow and Mountain Dew on here today are making me really want to consume one of those beverages.
I know! Some of the posters are complete idiots.
You can find Mello Yello in stores now that Coca Cola revived the brand. There was also a citrus drink in the Midwest called Green River. Damn stuff was day-glo green. Haven't seen that one in years.

Rondo was drink that real men drank. There weren't enough real men around to keep it in business.
Remember it well. Was similar in taste to Mt. Dew, but not as good.
We're talking about the song, right?
I'm just mad about Saffron
Saffron's mad about me
I'm just mad about Saffron
She's just mad about me
{Refrain}
They call me mellow yellow
(Quite rightly)
They call me mellow yellow
(Quite rightly)
They call me mellow yellow
If it's yellow, let it mellow
If it's brown, flush it down
Mello Yello is indeed not a very good citrus soda. It is way to similar to Mtn Dew for my liking, which I also do not consider a quality citrus soda. I'm disgusted that Coke re-released Mello Yello nationwide last year and discontinued Vault, which on the other hand, was a quality citrus soda. It was very similar to SURGE, Coke's green-colored citrus soda of the late 90s/early 2000s. I was always hoping Surge would make a return some day. Maybe after Mello fails again, Coke will consider a Surge comeback.
The best citrus soda out there is Yoli, but you can only get it the state of Guerrero, Mexico (places like Acapulco, Zihuatanejo, etc).

They're talking about smoking dried banana peels (was called mellow yellow) to get high. Talk about stupid flipping hippies ....
