Kevin Johnson?
Tim Ritchie
Should go after Sam Alexander
This is a very interesting take on how to set up a post-collegiate group. I'll be paying close attention to how this group works out.

He's wearing powder blue for the WMDP, actually.
http://www.westernmassdistanceproject.com/You guys should just support a group thats in existence... maybe the western mass distance project?
They got 3 guys who are 14:20 or faster and 3 more guys who are under 14:50, all who are shooting for sub 2:25 in the marathon.....doesn't sound like a bad opportunity right there....
I'm curious, Nich, but there is no need to answer: have there been many applicants so far?
Also, perhaps Coach Rothenberg might be able to talk to some of the Brown recent grads to see if they might be interested in joining. I know Dan Lowry (who recently competed at NCAAs in the 5k) has graduated but I have no idea if he's still considering running.
Same with some URI, PC, and RIC grads since they are already in the area. Maybe some more of the Boston schools?

Ya well he started out the year for GBTC, So he clearly doesn't have much loyalty. Throw some money at him, maybe he'll go to the rhode island circle jerk fellowship.

sounds like someone from GBTC has their panties in a knot over this guy.
@ NE Distance....Is this an American only group or are internationals permitted to apply?

Kevin and most of the WMDP are grads of my old school, UMass Amherst. At alumni events for past four years I have been preaching the joys of post college competition. Of course I invited them to join the club I coach, GBTC, if they came to live in Boston for a job or grad school. Kevin is in grad school at Dartmouth in Hanover, NH and asked to join GBTC because he wanted to race for a team as he did in college. Several other UMass guys had joined GBTC.
But they got the idea to start their own club made up of guys with Western Mass roots. Kevin will go back to Western Mass after he finishes at Dartmouth. He joined WMDP out of a sense of loyalty to his former teammates and not as an act of disloyalty to GBTC whose practices he could never attend. It is with our blessing that we released him to race for WMDP and have a very good time at races with Kevin the WMDP guys.
We wish them the best because cooperation is essential to good competition and we love the look of their powder blue uniforms next to GBTC red.
Our sport needs more guys like them. We could use another bunch of guys in lime green.

I know a Guy who should be recruited. At the new England based BAA 5K in 2010 He ran 5:34 pace behind elite Josh Cox (the winner) all after waiting 4minutes to cross starting line. This was good enough for 40th place. So now Imagine what he could race at if he didnt have a blockade of people to plow through. The guy is a licensed dentist in Michigan by the name of David Kipling "Kip" Litton.
Litton needs to join NE distance 4realz
Tom D, in his typically classy fashion, decides to answer the trolls to protect the integrity of one of his runners. Best wishes to the Western Mass group.
My life won't suffer if I never read another Kip L post. Really all, you'd be better of by doing more training instead.
My best wishes to the NE Distance Fellowships as well. I wonder though if people who are a couple of years post grad will uproot to re-locate, especially if they are receiving successful coaching now (e.g. Ritchie, Sanca, et al.)
That said, I'll send a donation as well.
Honestly someone who can run 5:34 pace through all those obstacles is probably in sub 14min 5k shape, give or take. Tom D should be all over him. Great guy for you to pay to move to the area, only youd have to convince him to sell a dental practice. Dude is legit and superhuman - I can't understand for the life of me why no ones recruiting this masters wonder named Litton.
What happened to that In the Arena Distance project in New Hampshire?
Hi C/M - We've received some very good applicants so far. Deadline is June 30th, so there is still time if anyone is interested in applying. FYI - Lowry has another year of eligibility and we wish him the best of success at grad school.
Western Mass - Thanks for letting me know about the Western Mass Project. I was unaware of them before. It's great that there are a few of us here in the northeast wanting to do this. The more of us there are, the better the sport will be. Maybe we can set up some friendlies and sell beer to spectators.

The BAA (boston athletic association) believes in kip Litton and believes Litton is legit - they didn't DQ him at that 5k so therefore the guy is an under the radar guy the distance project should to talk to and learn from. Think about it and talk to the BAA - its talent from our own backyard. This will help post collegiates who join the NE distance project in national and races where the racing IQ (kip's is off the charts) will be huge advantage
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
