I'm not one of those people who cries racism at everything. I'm pretty even-keeled, and believe I can judge character well.
However, I befriended someone at my new job who I've completely misjudged. Lately, this person has begun to express views and make statements that everyone here would agree are racist. It makes me very, very uncomfortable. I just don't see a place for his ignorance in the 21st century.
What are my options? This guy has basically been my mentor (I've been at the job for ~3 months now), and his on the job help has been invaluable. Do I share with him my discomfort in his outward expression of his views? Shrug it off and ignore it? Try to convince him his views are wrong? Just disengage with this guy altogether?
