Let me guess. The same message boarder said Rupp has no chance at an 8:09 indoor 2 mile because he doesn't have "speed" or something.

Are you seriously comparing a 8:09 indoor 2mile to a 12:45 5k?.....WOW. Like I said Rupp has ZERO chance of running a 12:45 5k. Sorry fanboys but thats reality.
Greatest 5k ever?... Lomong wins by 10 seconds easy.
The 17 year old Kenyan will kick all their butts, proving that Genetics > Training.
I'm guessing Bekele is in sub-13 shape on a good day, but he'll get outkicked in the end. I still think he's gonna be a beast in the 10000 in London though.

26:48 is worth something like 12:50. 12:45 is unlikely, sure, but not completely unthinkable.
I know everyone likes to make fun of Rupp for supposedly being a sissy or whatever, but the fact is that the man is a really excellent runner.

It's people like you who add to the criticism of Rupp. 12:45 won't ever be run by an American.
If even half of the studs in the 5000m actually make it to the starting line I'd say we're lucky.
Seems like every time a race like this is put together there is a let down. Injuries, sickness, DNF, etc.
Mottram!!! He and Birmingham shall battle for Oceanic supremacy...it'll just come down to the size of their balls...
All they need now is Haile. That would be frikin awesome.

Oh, it's the 5k - never mind then.
Are any of the those Kenyans going to actually run? They may want to run the Kenyan 10K trials the night before.
And somehow I don't see this race being fast. For one thing it will probably be windy. And just generally the Prefontaine 5000M never seems to be all that fast by the standards of the athletes who run it.

As if they can just decide to run the Kenyan Trials. I think you're forgetting something.
Lomong should hop in.

Who has a better chance of actually racing?
Rupp (pollen)
or
Ritz (injury)
10% chance both of them race
60% chance one of them races
30% chance neither of them race
This is an impossible distribution of probabilities unless Ritz's racing and Rupp's racing are interrelated in some way. Nice job, dumb@$$.
Nevermind the last post. Although it would require one of them to have odds of competing about 3 times higher than the other.

Bernard Lagat
Lawi Lalang
Lopez Lomong
Cam Levins
needs to be added to the field and this would be the most EXCITING 5000m of the year! Maybe even better then the Olympic's 5000m...hmmmm!!!!

Haha. Yes, kid! One of the best post-race interviews I've ever seen. Became an instant Mottram fan.
Any word on Ritz running at Oxy this week as previously mentioned by Salazar?
