Don't be so withholding. Give us more information. Or I'll just go to Dyestat.
Are you serious? That would be #6 all-time.
It was Mansfield Timberview's Aldrich Bailey...He's the defending Texas (5A, the huge schools) state champ.
I'm pretty sure that's the state record. The old one was 45.3x by Marlon Ramsey in 1994 or something...

lol, that's a threat!?
whats Over Under on him breaking 45 EVER.
I can remember about 10 guys who ran 45.8-45.3 in HS.
Never heard a thing from them after that.
Troll much?
What a joke! The odds of him breaking 45.00 are very good, and he's an instant candidate for a future Olympic medal.
Wariner, Merritt, Harrison and Carter and ran 45.3-45.8 in high school. This time is 5th/6th all-time on the US HS 400m list, which is really saying something,

I'd say chances are pretty good. Despite your not remembering hearing a thing from guys with nearly as good times in HS, it has nothing to do with their being too fast in HS.
I'll give you three names you should instantly recognize that have run under 45.70 in HS during the past decade: Jeremy Wariner, Lashawn Merritt, and Xavier Carter. Two of those three are Olympians and all three went well under 45.
As for the other three high schoolers that have run under 45.70 this past decade: Tavarius Tate has run 44.84, Bryshon Nellum hasn't gone under (but he got shot, so it should be understandable that he hasn't gone under), and Kelly Willie has run 44.63.

Yes. I'd rather gouge my own eyes out than go on ESPNrisestat.
Not to surprising, Bailey is one of 3 H.S. kids I predicted would go sub-45 this year.
Been driving. I think he was under 45 on the anchor of a 3:12

You're texting on Letsrun while driving? WOW.
Not texting while driving, thus the delay.
That's blazing. Prior state record was set 18 years ago (by a guy who went on to break 45, btw) and he knocked nearly .2 off of that in a highly competitive state for the 400m. Definitely worthy of posting the time/performance on here, so thanks.
Also, nice consecutive slap-downs--citing Merritt, Wariner, and Carter, to name a few--of the guy saying he'd probably never break 45. In the unlikely event he wasn't trolling, it's always going to be easier to remember those who didn't fulfill high expectations than those who simply did what was expected of them based on past performance.
And even if he never went on to break 45, in a way, who cares? He still just ran an epic time and it is what it is. I remember seeing Obea Moore run when I was a kid. Of course, he never went on to meet some of the expectations (see above paragraph), but it was still pretty amazing at the time. I remember it and I'd bet a lot of others do as well.

Anyone remember Quincy Watts? 1992 Olympic Champion and 43.5 PR? Not sure what he ran in high school, as I think he was more of a 100/200 guy, but I'm sure he ran a 400. And I'm sure it wasn't sub-45.
Maybe he didn't run the 400 in high school. I had no idea he played wide receiver for USC either.
Here's another CA kid who DID focus on the 400 in high school, didn't come anywhere close to breaking 45 as a prep, and went on to become the Olympic champion after completing his freshman season at UCLA. I remember many of his duels with Danny Everett, and the Pac-10 championship race that year was epic (for the time).
