Makau and Kipsang look real eager to run fast while Kirui is content to wait it out.
mile 8 38:29 for men

he was 9 seconds back at 5k sounds like he has been off since the start.
That second 5k was 14:59 for the leaders after 14:37 the 1st one.
Didn't see mile 7
Mile 8 4:59 If that is accurate things have slowed.
Zersenay Tadese was 21 seconds back at 10k

Probably just doesn't want to bomb again like his last attempts.
Does he want to run alone all the race?
women kiplagat keitany leading pack of 5, plus pacers. pace still the same looks like they are heading for ~2:21:XX
Makau is playing the devil here. I see him pulling a 4:27 mile out of no where in the first half. His tactics will def lead to DNF for himself and anyone who tries to play with him. The smarter racer here is Mutai and might win this.
Women's miles from BBC
Mile 11 5:08
Mile 12 5:25
Mile 13 5:35
Mile 14 5:17
Mile 15 5:13
you don't become wr holder by running dumb
15k men 44:30. mutai feylisa bazu kirui and kipsang lel kebede and one or two others
Another most 5k
44:30 at 15k
so 14:54 for that 5k. The tracker says they are on 2:05:10 pace.
They should fly the second half.
"they might run a positive split where the second half is faster than the first"
Do the Brits actually define it like that? Or did the announcer just mess up?
tadese 15k split 44:55 now 25 seconds behind leaders.
What are the chances someone like Tsegaye Kebede wins? It would definitely make things much more complicated for AK.
Women's 5th 5k was quicker 16:23
They had been running 16:47-16:50

Makau out, that's a bigger issue. Kebede is Ethiopian too.
18 miles 1:36:34 for women leaders, pack of 4 (or 5, can't see sorry) plus pacer
That is what I am saying if a Kenyan man does not win it will make things complicated for AK since Mutai and Mosop have already lost.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
