The family of Usain Bolt must be a talented running family.
Also, I believe Nick Willis and his brother are the only two sub-4 brothers.
For father/son milers:
Archie San Romani, Sr. was in the 1930s a AAU (indoor) and NCAA champ in the mile, set a WR for 2000m, and finished 4th in the 1500 in 1936 Olympics.
His son, Archie Jr, set the US High School record in the mile (later broken by Jim Ryun), was on world-record 4xmile relay team, and finishing second in the NCAA mile.

Not brothers.
McChesneys are exactly who I thought of. There were upwards of 5 of them as I recall. And I think all of them were college level runners to one degree or another. And personally I think Bill McChesney would have been an American household name by the 1984 Olympics had he not had chronic injuries with his foot. No offense to the women. But women's running is a little like Women's basketball. I don't think there is as large of scale of competition between women. When a women's basketball team goes undefeated for the season it doesn't mean they are a John Wooden UCLA team. Likewise I don't think a woman medaling in the Olympics in of itself is anything like a man doing it. There is just not as much competition to overcome.

What about the McChesneys?
Also, Shalanes mom was ok, back when women didn't run seriously, her Dad was even better, he ran for the US on the world XC team, also ran around 29:00 for 10k on the roads.
The Jacksons
Men- The Bekeles
Women- The Dibabas
The Konchellahs get honorable mention.
The Pfitzinger family- mum, dad, and now daughters coming through.
Pete you will all be familiar with, beating Salazar in Olympic trials, etc...Chrissie is an Olympian (Seoul,3000m-for NZ), World Cross rep etc...also 11.80 for 100m.
Americans
The Centrowitz family
Dad-
Mom- was also a good runner
Matt-
sister-
Jim Ryun and family
Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery
thier child has be fast as hell
For a trio of siblings, both genders, how about-
Ian Stewart - European indoor 3000m and World X-Country in the same month, European Champion 5000m, Commonwealth Games Champion 5000m (beating Kip Keino and Ron Clarke with a 54.4 last lap), third Olympic 5000m (to Viren with Prefontaine fourth).
Peter Stewart - European Indoor 1500m Champion. Set British
record for a mile in 1972 (3:55.3 on a cinder track)
Mary Stewart - Commonwealth 1500m Champion, 1978

For an American family I'm going with the McChesneys
If we're including all events then I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Jenkins family. They remain the only father/son in the US and possibly the world to win gold medals at the Olympics. Charlie Jenkins won two golds at Melbourne (400 and 4x400), and his son (Chip) won a gold in the 4x400 at Los Angeles. Whenever dad jokes about getting two medals, Chip always has a nice comeback that dad never broke 45 but he did.
To be honest, I consider this more significant than a sub4 father son double.
Tommie and Ernie Smith
the Quarries(Don,Errol,Ray,Clifton)
the Mottleys(Wendell and John)
Glen and Wayne Long.
Dennis,Trevor,Leo and Bryon Dyce all ran. Any other combo of brothers able to post a 3:23.8 indoor 4x400?
For a Father and Son combo Steve Ovett and Yuriy Borzakovskiy should get a mention
The Hall brothers. Anyone predict Chad Hall to run well professionally?
