Like, are they real doctors (physicians) or kind of fake doctors?
I run with a guy who calls himself an anesthesiologist but his Facebook page lists his graduate degree as MSPH. Good dude, I was just wondering. Not trying to call him out or anything.
Of course they're real.

It just means that he got a Master's of Science in Public Health, in addition to his medical degree.
An MSPH is not a doctor in any sense.
An anesthesiologist is a doctor.
It's a real master's degree.

Can you be a MSPH and not an MD?
He has a masters of public health which is often a dual degree with an MD. He probably doesn't have his MD listed because he doesn't want his patients contacting him.

Aboslutely.
Also, it's possible the dude is a CRNA (also with an MSPH) rather than an MD. Wouldn't be the first CRNA who advertised himself as an Anesthesiologist (which implies MD).

If so, then why not list the MD title? Sure an MD can have a MSPH degree as well but will list both. I would be suspicious, or either that he got his degree in a foreign country. If you're going to call your self an Anthesiologist, you'd better have an MD or DO after your name.
Why don't you just ask him where he went to medical school? If he isnt an MD or a DO then he shouldn't be calling himself an anesthesiologist. Kind of strange that he would cite his MSPH degree because if he is a doctor because its not his most important degree.

You're not an anesthesiologist unless your Facebook page says MD.

No. A DO is an MD imposter. An MSPH is eqivalent to a PhD in public health.
Real doctors don't advertise their degree(s) on their facebook page. In fact, I don't know a single MD with a facebook page. They try to protect their personal lives as much as possible. Otherwise their patients would be calling, texting, and facebooking them constantly for medical advice.
I've always heard it referred to as an MPH rather than an MSPH. It doesn't make you a doctor if you have one though.
An MSPH is absolutely in no way equal to a PhD in Public Health.There are 3 main degrees you can get. A Master of Public Health (MPH), a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH), and a PhD in Public Health or DrPH.The MPH is generally obtained while in Med School along with getting your MD/DO.The MSPH is more research based and is generally a stand alone degree.The DrPH is usually something that either public health professionals have, though academics or physicians may as well.What probably happened in the case of your friend is that his med school didn't offer an MPH so he got an MSPH instead.DOs are real doctors who go to med school and can do everything that MDs can.

Well, as we have learned in many other threads... Facebook pages can be private. Not everyone's Facebook page is open to the public. In fact, most people's aren't.
You must not know many MDs. I have three close friends who are MDs. I see them at least once or twice a week socially. I have a handful of other golf/running buddies who are MDs as well. Most of them have Facebook pages.
DO are real docs. They can do everything an MD can do. My SIL is one. She works with my FIL who is an MD.
