Exactly, if I had some nut job, wanna be cop chasing me I would feel the need to defend myself as well. Especially if the guy outweighed me by 100 pounds. All that p.o.s Zimmerman had to do was stay in his car instead of trying to play police officer.

If I jumped someone I'd probably get a bloody nose and grass on my back too, because I'm not a very good fighter.

A lot of things still don't add up. What about the simple matter of where in the body Trayvon was shot? Maybe I missed it but I haven't seen it anywhere in that report or in the news. Yet the police officer goes out of his way to quote Zimmerman that he was yelling for help when he didn't even ask for it. What does Trayvon have to say for himself? Oh thats right, he's dead.

Seems like what happened to Zimmerman could have happened to anyone of us. He was just protecting his community and being responsible, something I would have done too.

Zimmerman tried to ask him some questions and got his a$$ beat.

He then killed Trayvon Martin in self defense. Should he have tried to play cop? No, but that doesn't give Trayvon Martin the right to attack someone who is asking him what he's doing at night in gang attire.

Either way, once the cops had arrived Zimmerman if he hadn't shot Martin, would not be charged with anything and Martin would be in jail right now for battery.

Why are people turning this into a racial issue? Just because the victim was black, does not mean that it was a racially motivated assault. Are you saying that if the victim was not black then he would have gone unnoticed by Zimmerman? Zimmerman seems like an equal opportunity nut case, and I think that it's tragic that these types of incidents always have to be labeled as hate crimes.

I'm not saying that prejudice does not exist, but did I miss something that points to Zimmerman as not liking blacks. Who is to say the the result would not have been the same if the victim was a non black teen walking through the neighborhood?

This is a senseless and tragic event, why try to turn into something that it may not be.
