You're commenting on an internet message board. 300k is not a laughable sum to you. Stop pretending it is. It is more than your net worth. You're not fooling anyone.
Millersville's president in a local paper opinion purse published on Sunday...
"Rigorous courses of study and extra- and co-curricular activities compel students to consider new ideas"
"Under the guidance of experienced faculty and staff mentors, students establish goals and strategies to meet the goals. They discover the value of synergy and gain first-hand experience on the merits of collaboration."

Can't have your cake and eat it too!
The most important factor in me has generally been close to a soft surface, especially innovative. I do not know, you will find a good trail near BU, run along the Charles River HP 96, can be very interesting.
Nope the seton hall thing is true actually

This was my first thought after reading the OP as well. I was like "oh man, Millersville turned down the chance to save its track program. And also I like being close to soft surfaces."
A college prof of mine was a graduate of Princeton. His favorite quote about ivy league schools: "Ivy league schools are very hard to get in to. And they are even harder to flunk out of."

It isn't news because $300k was offered. It is news because they said they needed $200k, $300k was offered, and now they say no deal.
You need to learn how Title IX is enforced. If they keep a program for men, then they need to have an equal number of spots for women (or be in proportion to the student population). What is interesting is that across the board there are a lot more women in college than men so this proportionality thing is going to create more havoc unless more men start going to college.
Wow, won a title back in 1982...sorry that does not make a compelling argument for competitiveness (depending on how many years they were top 10 of course).
Maybe it is just time to get athletics out of educational entities.

Holy cow, missed that one completely. Absolutely deflating. Track fans should surely take this one hard. The Hall has many Olympians, they crushed the sprint med for many years. That had an indoor track, wteff?!
They don't even have football that makes title 9 a concern?!!!!!!
When San Jose St cut track many years ago it was abominable. This is just as bad. Shame on the effer seton hall AD. Shame on the effer seton hall president.

I thought they needed to have an equal number of spots available, and have equal budgeting, but not that there had to be an equal number of spots filled? I mean, you can't force mens' programs to be cut because women aren't as interested, can you? Or is the law even more poorly written than I thought?
I keep reading story after story about colleges cutting various mens programs. Refusing $300K is insanity!
Title IX is doing what feminist intended it to do - limit opportunites for men.

I'm gettn tired of it.
Someday that arrogant attitude is going to get knocked way down and there won't be anyone around to help you.

Nice video about what's still going on at Millersville. The FIGHT continues. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFKCDjPGHbc&feature=share
Honestly, I've never heard of Millersville U before and now what I will remember about it is that it sucks.
Turning down a donation that would save the program is idiotic. From what planet are these administrators from?
