Decriminalized in a few cities, counties, states and even countries. Countless evidence pointing towards the medicinal benefits. Not one death ever recorded from even chronic use. Yet athletes can't take a toke and relax? WADA needs to change their policies.
For some sports it could be a performance enhancer, for others it could cause an unsafe condition. In much of the world it is illegal.
I'm not saying that you're wrong, but that is why. If it is ever widely decriminalized then the rules may be changed, but I doubt you'll ever be allowed to be under the influence during competition.

1) It's a statement like "not one death recorded from chronic cigarette smoking". You can't point at any one lung cancer patient death and say it's absolutely because of smoking, because plenty of people who don't smoke get lung cancer as well. It's an argument that's semantically correct but at its core misleading. Chronic marijuana usage certainly is associated with a number of health problems. I support its legalization because it's an expensive fight that can't be won and I don't think the government should be legislating what we put into our bodies good or bad, but it certainly isn't good for you.

The iaaf is pretty consisitent with all of the above. They have strict rules on advertisements for legal alcohol and tobacco products. I can't remember if I've ever seen the Marlboro man hanging on the wall of a meet.

It's on the list because it's illegal. Doing illegal drugs makes athletes a bad role model and all of that and is bad press for the sport. If it became legal I would understand taking it off the list, but not until then.
Confused on how testing and restrictions works for cannabis. When searched on globaldro.com it comes up at prohibited in competition but not-prohibited out of competition. Does this mean they only test for marijuana in competition?

drinking does the same.....alcohol causes much more damage than MJ.

As a percentage of the overall population, probably, as caucasians make up a greater percentage of the population. How about some more useful statistics, such as caucasin males age 18-35 vs. blacks/hispanics of the same demo?
Has there ever been a group of athletes that has protested MJ being banned? Anyone else find it twisted how Phelps got slaughtered by the media for taking a bong rip at a party at the end of his season but when he got a DUI it was no big thing?

It's all about the money. Marajuana is in direct competition with the alcohol industry. The alcohol industry has big bucks lobbying congress to keep marajuana illegal. Also, alcohol is heavily taxed, so if marajuana was ever legal, then people would grow it themselves; therefore, less tax money.
