Like I said on the other thread, Galen Rupp = zero acceleration.
I change my Rupp 100m from the blocks from around 12.5 to around 13.0
Seriously.
Seriouly, you are slow a** hell.

Quite empressed with Rupp's kick here. Barely outkicked by 2 very fast guys.
This ^ .
My guess is that Rupp was just using the 3000 as a workout. I didn't see this 1500 but to be that close to guys like Centro and Manzano is very impressive.
Bad times are coming back, bring back Spivey and Scott! They are too old, but a time machine can remedy that!!!!
Indoors isn't deep, but it is a bit odd to have our best 10k runner placing in the 1500.

Making the US team is liking being a minor league all-star. Decent, but you still suck a$$ compared to the big timers in the majors (everyone else in the world, oh yeah and guys like Centro who know how to kick you ass in imporatnt races)
you make the u.s. team in the 1500m OUTDOORS and you faced some of these guys since 2007:
alan webb 3:30 1500m and 3:46.91 mile world leaders 2007
bernard lagat 3:26.34 1500m, many world/olympic medals
andrew wheating 3:30 1500m in his first Euro race at the distance
lopez lomong 3:32 1500m
manzano 3:32
matt centrowitz 3:34 but World Bronze
so, no, you're not even close to right.

Dear mr Captain, I realize this was a slow race, but few are going to take out a pace in a distance race at elevation.

Two guys you listed actually matter on the world stage and they are guys who kick Manzanos ass up and down the track all damn day when it matters. Quit trying bros.
Manzano was ranked #6 in the world in 2010.
Has placed top three at USATF outdoor in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
2009 WC finalist
1st in 2011 London GP mile in 3:50
2 time NCAA outdoor 1500 indoor mile champ
1:44/3:32 PR's
Now he finally has a USTAF title.
He comes across as an overachiever to me.
Not sure why he gets so many negative posts.
I don't think anyone pinned any medal hopes on him. So he really hasn't been a let down. More talented runners in his event have done worse.
When you are picking your US Olympic team you have to strongly consider him even though he is not one of the three most talented guys that will line up at the Trials.
So I assume the two guys you are referring to are Lagat and Webb (since Leo beat Centro today). I'll give you the fact that those 2 guys are flat out better athletes when they were on, but saying he doesn't come up big by not beating people he probably shouldn't is a load of crap. Making 4 straight teams in the US is far from not showing up when it matters.
Ruppy fan boys can\'t find a way to get back at other runner and find the excuse to use Manzano been inconsistant in the past. But ill tell you that rather take manzano any day than rupp crying like a little bitch every time he loses. Now talking about inconsistancy Rupp ran an American last week comes back gets owned by lagat bad, at least Manzano admits it when he ran horrible races whenever he does!

Was this a 1500 or a mile?
Don't be ridiculous!
Thank you.
He's also ran faster than Jim Ryun. Nothing to sneeze at.
So he's up and down, but usually ready for the big race when his allergies aren't bothering him.
I can't get over how he can win a national title and people bust him. What was he suppose to do today other than win?
And one of the nicest, humble guys you ever met.
Go Leo!
I mean, I have never seen Rupp cry about anything. I'm sure he gets pissed off when he doesn't win (who doesn't?) but why so much hate on a guy who just got outkicked in a 1500m by the 2011 WC bronze medalist and Manzano who has made an OF 1500m and is a mile specialist? He's a 10k guy. I love Centro and Manzano, but put those 2 in a 10k and we'll see who gets worked over, ya dig? People need to get over knocking on Rupp. If Rupp can't do it then who can? Definitely won't be Dathan or Solinsky (Dathan injury prone and Solinsky is a softy). So everyone get over it and cheer for Centro, Rupp and Lagat because they are the only ones with ANY chance to medal. Thank you, come again.
So this got me wondering, what will the field look like for the OT 1500m this spring/summer? Will Lagat even run it? I'm hoping he doesn't, I think he should just focus his efforts on 5,000m and go for the gold.
Feel free to let me know if I've left any big names off this list:
Manzano
Centrowitz
Wheating (?)
Lomong
Batty (?)
Webb (?)
Who else am I missing that has a legit shot of being top 3 at the OT?

He is also the fastest indoor 2-miler in American history, perfectly natural that he would be world class in the 1500.

If you're going to include Batty on that list, you are opening it up to a lot of people. Russel Brown, for one (though he sucked this weekend). Probably Torrence and Leer as well.

He seems more like an underachiever to me. When he really puts it together in a race he can kick with anyone. But his poor tactics in some major races and inconsistency can be bewildering.
Watch him blow by 5 or 6 guys in the straight and almost run down Kiprop and tell me he has no talent. (you can skip to about 4:30 or so for the last lap).
