Simple question, would you switch countries in order to compete in the olympics knowing that you would be on that country's olympic team?
I believe this would only work if you have the "A" standard for whatever event you're in and dual citizenship with the U.S. and another country.
extending the q
I - a 2:15 marathoner
or
II-a 45.3 400 sprinter
2;15 will be the 3rd pack in London- second group at best
If you have an A 45.30 400meter you'll be ranked about 15th in the USA and not in a great position to even make the USA trials final let along the team-even 6th on the 4x4
but
you could join Kirani James,Rondell Bartholomew and Joel Redhead on the Granada 4x400 that would give you guys about a 3:00.5 PRlegspeed team that has a great chance to be in the OLYMPIC GAMES FINAL.
...and since your about a second faster than Redhead you could be a dual eventer and be in the open 400 too.
Answer the OPs Q from both view points
me
I can see a marathoner passing up the chance and make some cake in an other late summer'early fall marathon-
I can not see a 45.3 guy passing up this chance.
with 2 sub 44.7 teammates a little pressure gets you a lane in a lot of permit meets that want them. Should either or BOTH Medal in London you could be a lane one fixture in every Invite meet for the next year at least.
