Pretty stout training plan for Arne Gabius. Sleeper for first non-african at Olympics.

Don't forget Kipchoge is really 40 years old we all know Kenyans lie about their age.
he said schwanz
Completely random and inconsequential but that guys training log format is nearly identical to mine. Down to the color coding for tempo (light yellow), interval (orange), race (red), and long/easy (green). A bit weird seeing it.

You can look at his training here:

It is an exceptionally low-volume schedule. I looked at November and the more recent weeks in January.
If it interesting, he runs nearly all his "distance" running at 3:35/km in November. I wonder if he uses a Garmin or something? It is hard to know your pace down to the second and pointless to record it to the second unless you have wheeled the courses or are using a Garmin.
Then when he was in Africa, he ran nearly all his miles at 4:00-4:45/km pace. The altitude doesn't make that much difference.
Wish I could read German better, although you can glean what you need to if you are smart.

Kipchoge destroyed them all
I'm most impressed that he did this in the snow!
Under the radar here is Moses Kipsiro of Uganda on the comeback as well. 12:50 in 2007 and some top XC finishes since, but this would be a 3000 converted PB for him.

Long Career!
He raced in the Junior Race at the 2003 WCCC, so he is only turning 28 this year!
More importantly, where would Rupp have finished had he been in this race? Better than his 8:09.7? A second faster?
I think Rupp could have gone into the 8:08 range. Rupp is in the mix with those top 4. But that race illustrates the problem Rupp has at ever winning a medal. Namely the sheer number of East Africans who can run those kind of times. All those runners may very well compete in the 10K at London.

No.
Why does it not say NR against the German guy's time also (as for Farah & Kipsiro) ???
He is below the old European Record too so its an obvious NR.
Tell it to the IAAF: 7:29.96 = 8:07.96 = 1266 pts.

If I am not wrong he is inspired by what Salazar have done with Rupp and Farah -> faster on the distance runs.

Arne Gabius has been a perennial 13:30 guy until this week. The new Sergio Sanchez, I guess.
Perhaps Salazar corrcted his thumb carriage.
Well the guy did outsprint KB & El G
is there any video of this race??
Kipchoge is fast! Last year, he ran some crazy fast times indoors battling to the line with Isiah Koech and
Yenew Alamirew...
Going sub 13:00 and sub 7:30 on an indoor track is mind boggling!

I am not sure there is an official German 2M indoor record, although he clearly beat the 30 year-old previous best, national record or not, by some 20 seconds.
Much more significantly, he only missed Dieter Baumann's 3000m national record by just one second in Karlsruhe. Hearing his post-race interviews, I have to say that he clearly has all the self-confidence he needs (and perhaps more), but it is nice to finally see a German male distance runner break through on this level. Unfortunately, he is pretty much alone out there right now.
It was nice to hear Gabius express his disgust to the newly uncovered Erfurt "UV blood treatment" scandal, by the way - you don't often hear one athlete blast his fellow countrymen for doping. At 29, Gabius is improving mighty fast, but he does give a pretty credible explanation, finally being able to focus on running full-time. I'm inclined to giving him the benefit of the doubt.
