I am a former high school and college track/xc coach.
I can tell you this:
1) By yelling or confronting the coach you put their back up against a wall and if others saw it, then it's even worse. Here is why; A coach has to have authority, whether they are nice or a strict disciplarian. They must have their poisition respected. By yelling or standing up to him, and while you are just a freshman, you showed him you have no respect for him, the system, and your place on the team. Man up. Swallow your pride, and go to him with your tail between your legs, and tell him you will practice with the team and earn your spot.
2) You can not go to one school and run for another. The only way this is possible is if the school you go to does not have that sport. If everybody went to a school they liked but ran for a team they liked, we would have a lot more people doing it.
3) Check your ego. You may think you're hot stuff. But, get out there with some 13:30 5k's and you can become very humble. In short, be someone the school is proud to be associated with, and teamates keep in touch with. From your post it sounds like many teammates might not return your calls and the school has no reason to mention your name in a positive manner.
