I did that once. It's not a big deal. What matters is what you do now - i.e., do you go back down to 60 or keep it above 100.
I think I'm going to try to hit 200. I'm just going to run whenever I have free time.
Unless you have past experience or reason to believe that you are capable of maintaining that kind of mileage without injury, I'd suggest taking this week as a severe recovery week and then upping it again next week IF you still feel good.
Read some of the crash training stuff by Frank Horwill... it sounds like up to 7 days of severe load followed by enough recovery is fairly safe, but beyond 7 days risk of overtraining & injury goes up significantly.
If you haven't learned from personal experience, you should know - injuries suck, and it's hard to improve when you can't run.
also missing some info here: was it 60 to 146 in one step? or was it 60, 100, 146? Whatever the case, go back down to your typical week (or even less) to recover this week.
I started at 40-50-60-66 then I went to 146. Ill try to hit 175 this week. sounds like a good number.

seriously, that's dumb. even amping up to 100mpw would be a bit much from 60mpw, but at least a little more reasonable and probably more likely to maintain without getting injured. you're probably just running junk mileage and it won't even be beneficial to you, but rather hinder your possibilities for improvement. we improve by recovering from the work we do. you will never be able to fully recover if you keep amping it up that much. the only possible way you could be recovering from that is if all the time you are not running, you are sleeping or eating like a champ. chances are you are not. the typical american lifestyle does not suit that kind of training. good luck. let us know when you're injured or burned the F out.

How many beers?
I've been thinking about trying for 100 one week this winter - I do around 50. Just to see if I can do it, and to know that I did it once.
But that would be just for one week.

If your goal is simply to see how much you can run, then fine - go for it. If your goal is to get faster, as another poster pointed out, you may want to take a look at this link to get some direction from this point on.

I haven't thought about trying the beer/mileage challenge, this one is just about running only I suppose. I did drink about 25 beers total this weekend not counting shots.
I ran 19 miles this morning in 2:01 and I'm going to head out for a 4-6 miler tonight. For the guy who made a comment about junk mileage, I'll see if there is actually such a thing. Until then, I'll be running hard when I feel good and running easy(very easy) when I feel bad. If I run 6 tonight, I'll be on track for my goal of 175.

That ain't nothin'. Once I went from 0 miles a week to 5,000 miles a week, all of it was at 5:00 pace or faster. I also swam 3,000 miles that week while carrying a 5 ton steel I-beam on my back on my way to and from work. And then to top it all of I ran 1:30 in a local marathon to break the world record but they didn't keep official time. I'm also God.
