AR today, WR tomorrow wrote:Holy cripes! Didn't realize he was so close to Bekele's WR. Give it some time - only 5 seconds over 8 laps... that's nothing. Go GR!
he's close to the world record, but don't take that as being close to Bekele. Bekele CAN clearly run sub8 if he wanted to.
Go Rupp!! Congrats
"could have"
all the haters can suck it. LEGGOOO RUPP
Jesse Jesse, Jesse Jesse, hey hey hey, go-ood byeee
wow, that shuts up most of us
I don't know about gay, but he did sound like a prepubescent boy. I guess when you're going sub 8:10 you can damn well talk however you want, but I don't think anybody can deny my claim is correct.
Of course we had to hear about his 'cold/sinus infection' during the race, which was just an insurance policy if he didn't get the record. It's always something with this guy. Hell of a run, but he always has allergies/sinus BS.
i have an off topic question. why did mo farah during the 1500 and galen rupp during this 2 mile run both wear the matumbos? are matumbos better indoors?

What makes this all the more amazing, on top of his 4:08-4:01 splits. His first lap was 34.38!!??? I'm all for conservative starts and negative splitting, but that first lap might have cost him 2-3 seconds. If he had gone out in 31, he might not have closed quite as fast, but he would surely have run faster. All of his other splits made sense. Running 8:09 is amazing, running it with a 34.38 first lap is out of this world and makes his run truly world class.
Yes, so he must have run his last 3000m in about 7:33 - 7:34 Correct me if I'm wrong.
First 200 in 34 + 19 more yards then 3000m
8:09.75 - 34 - 19 more yards.

That first 200 split included the 19 more yards. But that doesn't really take anything away, 7:35 is still legit.

8:09.75 - 34.4 =7:35.3 That is fairly impressive.
WEJO, truth be told, just saw the video of the interview, body language of Rupp tells me some bad blood b/w u guys, so what is the deal?
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
