Clearly you don't understand training then, since I am assuming this is a sarcastic post. The All-American was two or even three minutes faster than some of the guys on the team in the 5k. Should he really be running with those guys on his easy days. It would be too slow for him and too fast for the slower runner. Easy days are meant to be easy, which will be different for each runner. Our coach and the runners on the team (and the All-American) were very encouraging of everyone on the team. We also knew sound training principles and sometimes the freshmen didn't get it, no matter what we said. In that case, the putting the hammer down on an easy day by the All-American runner got the point across that you should be running your pace, not someone elses. Get it.
