5% seems like a pretty arbitrary cutoff. Also, BL is the best selling beer in this country.
Now, if he had chosen something like bud select 55...
Bud Light isn't the best selling beer in the country because it isn't beer at all. Beer is not made from corn. Bud Light is made from corn.

No. Rice is the grain you're thinking of. Bud Light is made from rice, which really makes it not beer at all.

I don't consider 5% to be arbitrary. 5% beer is what they refer to when they say a "standard drink". For example: 1 glass of wine = 1 shot (1.5 oz) 80 proof liquor = 1 12 oz 5.0% beer. They all have the same amount of alcohol. Also beermile.com tends to be the authority on athletic drinking records. 5.0% is one of the official rules. Sure, it is intended for the beer mile but they do discuss bicentennial records too.
It is a great accomplishment and I'm probably too old to give it a try but it cannot be considered a record.

If theres no precedent for the bi/tri centennial then it can be talked about. sure you say 5% is a "standard drink" but if no one has ever done it with any sort of beer at all, then this is still the best. If someone goes out and does the same time with 5% beer, then fine, thats a winner.
the 5% is for the beer mile, but its never stated for the bicentennial challenge. we need a explicitly stated alcohol percentage. im cool with 5% being the new rule. so if everyone is in agreement, the official alcohol content needed for the 100/100 challenge will be a minimum of 5.00%.
i will concede the status of the official world record holder. although it wont even be a problem because im breaking 97.5 hours soon with at least 5% beer anyways. but until then, 104 can stand as the world record, but i wouldnt mind an honorable mention asterisk, kind of like G. Mut's 2:03:02 at Boston 2011
I completely agree that it can be talked about regardless of which beer is used. Lots of respect for you guys. 100 miles OR 100 beers is tough shit...regardless of running pace or alcohol %. I just made my post because on one of the pages somebody was talking about setting a world record. I consider Fast Guy a member of the Bi/Tricentennial club. But as far as a record goes I think it might be a good idea to stick to 5.0%...unless everybody wants to just agree that it can be any beer.

I would also like to add: Guiness is about 4.2 abv. Now if he had drank 100 guiness, would anyone have complained? no.
Yes
