They are nice. Many of my friends work as mail man in USPS. I think some are not good. Now all USPS employees can make use of liteblue portal (https://liteblue.onl/) to get all the benefits.

Like all businesses, they have good employees and bad ones. Years ago I found one woman at my post office very rude to deal with, so at least once or twice I let someone go in front of me in line so I wouldn't have to go to her window.

I worked at a PO in Boston during college.
Lots of nasty people.
Big Part of it is since veterans and minorities get priority in hiring and promotions, and can't be fired, they don't give a crap when dealing with fellow employees or the public since they have an entitlement attitude.
Another issue: drugs and alcohol abuse. Many are hungover or still high from the day/night before.
Then the tediousness of the work, there's no sense of accomplishment or progress ie: "same sh**t, different day." If you work exceptionally hard, it doesn't matter, in fact its discouraged by co-workers and union leaders, the reason: the pay sucks and it's never going to get better..

I can't remember the last time I had a positive experience with PO employees. They always seemed so inconvenienced by me asking them to do their job. And God forbid I not understand something and they have to explain it. These people HATE explaining fairly unintuitive procedures (like getting your mail forwarded).
Had new pedestal mailboxes installed at my townhome complex recently. Received a letter telling all the residents to go to the local Post Office on a certain day to pick up our new keys. Got up to the window and told the clerk I was there to pick up my mailbox key for my address. He bellowed "THEY AREN'T HERE!" (with no further explanation). When I tried to get an explanation (of any sort), he flipped out even worse. Rude, ranting, hostile. Apparently he'd been dealing all afternoon with people looking for their new keys (simply following the instructions in the letter we all had received). Ended up having to inexplicably wait 2 more days for the keys.
William Faulkner would like a word with you:
"As long as I live under the capitalistic system, I expect to have my life influenced by the demands of moneyed people. But I will be damned if I propose to be at the beck and call of every itinerant scoundrel who has two cents to invest in a postage stamp."
How did the post office and the DMV (hell, all government jobs it seems) end up being set-asides for racial minorities?
Because the mail never stops.
Because many of them are posters on letsrun.
It’s no different than the airlines. At least during Covid, they were forced to be kind to the few travelers that booked flights. It’s like flying with 3 of my 9th grade English teachers that hated kids.
It's because when you control the mail you control...information!
