I'm looking for opinions on whether or not law school would be worth it, if I'm interested in patent law. I've read all the crap posted around the internet by people who went to law school and are now in a good amount of debt without a job. I'm graduating next December with a bachelors in mechanical engineering, and so far I've kept a
4.0 gpa. I haven't taken the LSAT, but I took the gre and got 161 quantitative and 160 verbal.
I'm just worried about whether the debt I would take on would be worth it. I will graduate from undergrad with 10k in debt. If I went to law school, I figured I would add another 90k at least to that. I have always had an interest in the legal system, I went for engineering because everyone in high school said that it would provide me with the best opportunity after college. Being so close to finishing undergrad, I can say that I have not found engineering interesting. I've had two different internships on the industry, and both times I've hated being there.
Is it an awful time to even consider law school? Recent blogs/news articles sure do make it seem like it.
