People are bashing coaches when one runner gets 2nd and another gets 4th while setting a pr off of a very fast pace. I would hate to hear what you say about all the coaches that their runners came in 23rd, or 49th or 80th.
ridiculous

Was Desi not running for the win?
She left herself a very slim(I would say virtually no) chance by letting everyone hang around.
Why she let it be so (relatively speaking) slow for so long and then never made a move is beyond me. I am a big fan but that is 2 trials in a row that her 'coaching' or decision making has let her down.
i'm thinking the hansons thought 2:25 would be enough for the win. either way this was the practice run, london is going to be a strong showing for the american women. really impressed with karas performance with all the changes in the last couple months.
I agree that Ryan doesn't really care what ANYONE thinks about him. It has probably helped his success even. But why am I an idiot? I wasn't bashing the guy.
Give the race organizers a break. They haven't collected all the Popsicle sticks from the runners yet.
Yeah, that would be loser logic. That clearly was not the goal here and she stated as much all week.
That is why I was questioning the strategy. It seemed odd for someone that planned to win to run a slow pace and let people with superior track speed hang around.
It also cost her a career defining win and a huge sum of money.
Hopefully there is a real plan for her at the Olympics.
They are probably not to worried to piss of the 3000 fans that running has!...lmfao they have some REAL sports to attend to today..like ummmm...NFL Play-offs baby!! Olympics Trials/ Running N O ONE cares but the 300 of you nuts out there, so go and cry yourself a river son!
Yeah, Sell ran well to make the team last time around. It would have been a massive upset if Desi did not make the team. It is not outside the realm of possibility that she medals in London.
You get a lot faster results from a HS XC meet or the local 5K with 300 runners. Seriously, this is beyond ridick.
Thank you brojos for the coverage. Letsrun idiots thank you for the clutter and entertainment!
Ya, props to the Brojos. The rest of the coverage world is awful though.

nbc doesn't have the nfl playoffs today fool. fox and cbs will be reaping those ratings bonanzas.
Desi is so over-rated. She has no kick.
That should be "BrosJo", not "BroJos."
RE the mens race.....
Congrats to Meb, Hall, and Abdi. Bummer for Ritz but his post race comments are spot on. He moved up to the marathon WAY to early. This year or maybe even 2016 should have been his first Oly trials in the marathon. The kid has some serious track skills and should have been focusing on the 5 and 10 through the 2012 cycle. I am not sure if this was his decision (because he "wants to be a marathoner" or he just wanted the $$$ that comes from the pro marathon circuit) or if it was his coaches (salad-bars) decision. He may still do something in the Marathon but he needs to take care of unfinished buisness on the track first.
Regardless, Ritz PR'd and ran a good race today. Hopefully he can recover mentally and physically for track season and do something in the 5 or 10. If all goes well the track trials in the 5 and 10 should be crazy this year with Solinsky, Rupp, Lagat, Ritz, Teg, Nelson, and Curtis in the mix. I hope Ritz makes the team on the track, I could seem him going sub-27 and possibly reclaiming the 5K AR based off the strength he has from marathon training.
As far as the Meb v. Hall posts goes...this is stupid. These two guys are the best we got right now (Meb is a former Olympic medalist and 2009 NYC champ) and Hall is clearly the fastest marathoner running in the US currently (forget the "2:04**" and focus on the 2:06:17 from London). Hopefully, Abdi can stay healthy...
More interesting to me is the Schumacher v. Salad-bar results. Taking the womens results in to account its Schumacher 2 Sald-bar 1 (sorry Ritz). We'll see how Simon does tomorrow, Schumacher might just get the hat-trick with that b@#ch.
Yeah thanks to all the great people there for sharing info on sixth through tenth+ finishers. You all are the NBC of online coverage.
seriously, wejo, PLEASE can we get at least a top-10 of each field?
Thank you Wejo for the coverage.
The only thing I'm surprised about is that MEB WON! Ya'know I thought he'd make the team and I felt he'd be in the top three..but never imagined him actually winning even after reading about his blistering in NY.
Meb winning made my day!

Yeah, good coverage from LetsRun, but I should also mention that while runnersworld gets a lot of flack on here at times, their marathon coverage is pretty good.
I believe that is the only thing 'you' know

The Runners' World live feed (which was great the entire race) says they're stymied trying to get any results past top 5, and waiting on NBC. Either they are no longer getting a feed to see the other finishers, or they are just blaming NBC for their own shortcomings in tracking the other finishers.
