so you don't believe that members of a religious group can be happy, or good. Does this extend to everyone or just religious people?
Do you believe that anyone can be happy or good? Or is everyone scheming and manipulative?

If they were happy, then wouldn't be so damned religious.

The Halls certainly are complete nuts, but they don't seem like the type that try hard to push their views on others,
Right, because no one knows what religion they are, they don't have god as a coach, and because they don't mention god in every single frigging sentence.
Shame on you and best of luck after you take your last breathe. Sadly, you will regret your comments and lack of faith/purpose here on earth. Good luck.
P.S. God is always capitalized. He's earned it.
Hall left Mahon because "Mahon didn't believe in "Him" aka atheist aka sensible

and SANTA. He's my coach. He sees me when I'm sleeping, he knows when I'm awake, he knows if I've been bad or good so workout for goodness sake.
Agree with you. I am in fact a Ryan Hall fan. I hope he rips one. He's wacky, but that boy sure can run.
What is worrisome is Ryan prepared for the marathon without altitude training! Hopefully it works this time around but the guy should get back to altitude after the trials because it has been working for him. Can't he find a church in Flagstaff?

That's great and god is not a Proper noun. Proper nouns name a specific person, place or thing. Every culture and every religion has a god and they are all different, therefore do not capitalize it.
I find it interesting a newspaper with USA in the title does not consider the USA marathon trials a major marathon.
Mahon is a coach of legend. His track record speaks for itself and will only continue to grow.
Ryan Hall (and Sarah too) are some of the most self-absorbed athletes I have ever seen. They are definitely not 'team' players at all.
And as far as their religion is concerned, click on the link.
best of luck burning for eternity

How many great runners coached themselves? I'm not saying it can't be done, I just don't know of many.
Culpepper kinda coached himself after he left Colorodo, right?
Who else?
Frank Shorter.
Honestly, I cannot believe that any confident, self-respecting person (even anonymous) would openly degrade another individual by calling them "nutjobs".
I'd like to see you walk up to Sara Hall and say it to her face.
It's not as if Sara and Ryan were ALWAYS believers in Christ. They chose to believe through their life experiences and a void in their heart, soul, mind, whatever... It's not because of guilt. It's not because they're afraid of what will happen when they die. It's not so they can shove it in someone else's face. They believe because everything in their being knows it to be true.
Ridicule from ignorant people doesn't matter because they are confident in Christ and God's promise. Why else would Ryan subject himself to being called a "nutjub" by critics on a regular basis? Let's face it, people want to be liked. No one likes to be rejected. The difference here is that their faith is so much more meaningful and real than being liked by the masses.
They make *comments* about God because it is their main priority and the most important part of their lives. I always chuckle when someone says that they hate when they "preach". Ryan isn't on a pulpit professing that you must be baptized or else. He shares who he is, if you don't like it...don't read it. Most of all though, you should take an honest look at why his lifestyle and beliefs bother you so much. Most can and will be indifferent to it. If you have an angry, annoyed, emotional response to his faith, then maybe the problem isn't him...it's you. People are usually threatened by things they know nothing about. Most of the critics know NOTHING about God, spirituality, faith, and grace. I would rather listen to someone share their struggles, success, joy, and passion than listen to angry, bitter, negative, bath-mouthing "know it alls".
And of course, that was meant to say bad-mouthing.

Sure he is. God is a character in a book, so you would capitalize him. Just like you would Atticus Finch or Harry Potter.
