weather sucked
men- individual's. deckfoss(BU) + hocken(UNH) ran well, the syracuse guy was a surprise to see up front, thought the buffalo guy (Slick) would have quilfied
women- stony brook? they were nothing last year to putting a few in the top 25, BU top girl finished in the first 25, not too bad for a freshmen!
They Syracuse guy was a suprise again!
Thanks,
The weather wasn't too good, cold, breezy, and a little wet. It was actually much better than it could have been. The course was still quite firm. Bitok wasn't too much of a surprise, he ran 24:02 at franklin park two weeks earlier at big east, i believe. I figured going in it was dieckfoss, sundell, slick, spring, and myself fighting for the individual spots, with Bitok and Meyers (Yale) having a shot, and I was also thinking Wallace of BC might be up there as he had been improving by leaps and bounds throughout the season. I just wanted to make sure i was in safely in case Dartmouth didn't get in. it proved to be important as Bitok gets knocked out if darthmouth doesn't go (which it deosn't sound like they will).
The pace went out controlled, and McArdle and Sutton grabbed the lead immediately and looked content to criuse and get ready for nationals. Then kiplagat made one huge move to catch them. I say huge because he was in the second group with me, bitok, jochen, reid, riley, sundell, and a few others and then in less than 500m kiplagat made up 30-40m or so on the leaders. for a second i thought bitok was going to go with him. after that bitok did much of the work, constantly changing the pace and surging in the woods. he looked good, but it might have cost him, because he got a side stitch at about 5miles and dropped way off the pace.
good luck to everyone
Hey nice race the other day. I was just curious what kind of milage you do throughout the summer and season, if you don't mind disclosing the secret. Thanks a lot and good luck at Nat's.
