I am a 40 year old Master runner who runs everything from the 800 to the 10k. I ran 1:55 last year off of 50-60 MPW with a long run of 10-12. I am building up this Fall with alot of XC training (tons of 1000's and Mile repeats) 60-70 MPW with a long run of 12-15. Hopefully, I will be strong enough this upcoming Spring and Summer to use my speed the last 200 and get it down to a 1:52. Long run should be nice and slow, especially when you get older. Save it for the fast days. Good luck!
