Ovett's son is definitely not on the Oregon roster, so it sounds like it didn't work at all.

That bio is full of lies. He has not won a national Australian junior 800m or cross country title, and he has not run 1:51 for 800m.
where did he run 1 51
he has not run 1:51

Not sure where you found that, but here's the link to the roster itself for track and field 2012-13 and he's not on this:

track isn't easy, times don't come quick.

Young for his age? What does that even mean?
It's sad it did not work out for him but no great surprise.
He only won national titles in primary school - he struggled to be competitive at a national level thereafter.
To the best of my knowledge he has NOT run 1.51.
Hopefully he moves on from trying to be Ovett II. He is a smart kid who could/will be successful, just not at running.
Too bad it did not work out, but we should NOT begrudge him...we should NOT begrudge him.
I believe he is moving to London to be personally trained by Lord Coe using the Five Tier/Pace system.
So any news of Freddy Ovett. I know he is back in Auss but is he running???
Thought he was on for big things!
I here he is giving tri a go no idea how its going though!
Seven pages of people arguing if he is going to be great or suck and he never even ran for Oregon.

4:03 for 1500 is equivalent to a 4:23 mile. I assume that he is going to UO and just walking on to the track team. 4:23 is a decent walk on time. I assume that he could have walked on in any division 1 school. However, I'm not sure how much racing he will get to do at Oregon. In 95% of the div 1 schools, 4:23 is fine, but Oregon?
Oregon has 4:15 walk-ons; Oregon 4:23s on their running club team. However, 4:23 is a decent time for some small conference teams especially with some decent PRs in other events.
Bump. Any updates?
