From the article you linked:

In fact, when those two variables are accounted for, the graph shows a clear trend that the "very brightest" take less drugs than "normal", which pretty much confirms my suspicions -- thanks for the link!
The question remains though, why is it that more intelligent people have higher drug use without accounting for the social and demographic factors? The cited study doesn't mention it, but my hypothesis would be that they have better means and an easier time obtaining the drugs they want -- after all, they are more intelligent.
