If someone tried to put up a 42 foot high cross, imagine the furor.

Why would they put up a cross at the celebration of Jesus's birth?
I take it you don't know much about Christianity?
There is no 42 foot high menorah on the White House lawn.
Photos/Link please.
Looks like it's across the street.

It is at least 42 feet. There are several pictures available on the internet showing it being lit two days ago (12/21/11).
It is a monument to Jewish power in the USA

I'm looking at a picture of the lighting ceremony right now with the White House in the background. There is no street between the Menorah and the White House. Given this indusputable fact(anyone with google can find this picture), what do you mean when you say is is across the street? Does that have some meaning other than literal? If not, you are in error
Seriously, why would the White House put up a crucifix at Christmas? The crucifix has nothing to do with Christmas, save for being a generic Christian symbol. The menorah is central to the celebration of Hanukkah.

Actually it's not. Just look at the picture
A picture is worth a thousand words.

It's called a lawn
Or a Christmas Tree!!

Does the existence of an Xmas Tree mean the menorah does not exist?
I don't see anyone claiming there is no Xmas Tree at the W House.
