It was the latter.
I ran in the NEC with SFU and Thompson and heard multiple stories from athletes about some really poor coaching and leadership decisions he made in his short tenure there.
One that stands out was the last workout before the conference championships, he was running very, very late (I think it was over 30 minutes) and the runners had already been given their workouts so they warmed up and completed the workouts. When they came back from their sessions he ripped them apart for not waiting and then made them repeat the workout in the afternoon. Needless to say they struggled that weekend at their championship meet (so much so that I actually approached a few that I was friendly with to ask what was up and received this story as their explanation).
So - lets get a recap of things thus far with regards to job openings, with slinging mud at coaches and why they left. Seems like an interesting start to what could be an even more INTERESTING summer.

San Jose State was filled correct? Nothing in the west as usual.
What about Arizona????
Arizona?
Erin Dawson took Stackhouse's old position at UVA. She was tired of James Li and his "interesting" recruiting tactics. No word yet on who fills in at UofA, but it'll certainly be a female. The prettier the better
I don't think UVA is hiring another distance coach. Todd Morgan is the women's coach there now and doing a great job.
Not sure where Stackhouse ends up, not sure where Dawson ends up but I am sure both will have jobs soon.
What's up with the UNC job. Any idea who they're going after?
We need more dirt on here why did the Notre Dame coach leave mid season? Its odd of any positions to be open right now, unless they are posting for next year which is the case with a few. Spill the beans LR

The Head Men's TF Coaching Position at Penn was posted on NCAA News today.
SJSU has hired Ron Davis.
Heard the Southern Connecticut job has two candidates that they like. Should be an assistant job coming open with that one following the hire.
I didnt realize that guy was still alive?
Yes they replaced the retiring 71 year old with a guy who must be around 70 himself.
