Rock Light to Florida
Rock Light to Florida
This is so obviously David Burnett haha so sad!
they knew he was done a long time ago - they had their candidates narrowed down in May - July 1 the new recruiting season begins - they could have made this hire by now and gotten a top notch candidate
Brice Allen to coach distance at Ohio State
Confirmation of Brice Allen?
Confirmation on Coach Light?
Would Brice Allen coach men or women or both?
Brice to coach men only.
Thought Sparks would be the coach.
When will they make the announcement of Coach Allen?
Why would he leave a combined position at Louisville to take only the men at OSU? Who will coach the women?
So the Ohio State W Tack job posting is extremely vague. What event position are they looking to hire?
Brice hasn't been at Louisville and stepped away from coaching for a few years now, I believe. More coaches would benefit from the same with the year-round grind indoor T&F brings. Coaching both genders is no walk in the park for anyone who has done it. The question is NOT why would you leave a combined program; it is why wouldn't you leave a dual gender situation to focus on one gender? Then you don't have to play Jekyll and Hyde every day! Name the coaches who are great at BOTH genders year-in and year-out. It's a short list.
Some of you kids in your 20's sure don't grasp that coaching is an incredibly taxing profession. Give it time. You will see. The novelty of "coaching Division I" and being away from family 3/5ths of the weekends per year wears thin after awhile. I heard Coach McDonnell say when he retired: "I regret not seeing my kids grow up because I was gone raising other kids for 20 years. Ouch."
I have no idea why Brice stepped away nor does it matter to me as I am outside his inner circle. That should be the respect we pay for everyone. Not to change subject for too long, but I heard the divorce rate among college coaches is closer to 70% than the 50% national average. Chew on that when you're questioning a coaches' motivation to take (or not take) a certain position! IT'S MUCH MORE THAN "HOW GOOD THE PRESENT TEAM IS". In fact, I can tell you THAT reality really doesn't matter much at all to the best coaches. In a good situation for them and their family the good coach knows how to make a program successful in a few years.
If Brice is getting back in, that's a huge win for not only this school, but for our profession in general. The kids at Ohio State are getting a first-class leader with a caring heart. Best wishes. Only each man/woman (and his/her family) knows when and if it's time to step away or come back to the game. There are no other sports that are in-season year-round like ours. You have to be 100% ready for the grind.
Comment or two welcomed then get back to openings and possible candidates.
And who are you trying to promote huh....
Wow that sounds like Brice himself...wow that sounds like David himself...really people. What happend to I hope these people get good jobs and help support their families. I don't know either of them but you should always wish well for people. Collegiate coaching is a tough profession. You see coaches leave for family or health reasons all the time...

He must be desperate. Ursuline is an awful, awful job.
And he is truly an awful awful person.
He'll be fired from this job too.
The Ursuline job pays about 30k a year! I had a few e-mails back and forth with the AD about 2 months ago. Too low of pay for anyone with more than 2 years of experience!!!
Any work on South Carolina?

Nothing happening there this year but keep your eye on this one if improvement doesn't happen soon.
Has anyone heard anything about Tennessee?
