Another great result for Max King! Top 3 at the Marathon trials. He'll do it
I hope you are right. What happened to Arciniaga? 39th? This is following his 2:24 in the WC. He finished 2nd in this meet last year and turned that into a great 2:11 in Houston a month later. He has a lot of work ahead of him over the next month.
Dunbar at 5th is pretty dang inpressive. Not super deep field this year, but still a big effort for him.
Centro, however, is slightly more impressive having come off a very long track season and having not really raced this fall. I realize he has past XC throwdowns (10th at NCAA 2010), but still: to be 2 seconds back of Braun/Reid is pretty sick.
Some interesting results down farther on the lists. I realize Club Nats is not a big event and typically has some anomolies, but still:
39 Nick Arciniaga 30:48
40 Daniel Mercado 30:51
47 Jordan Horn 30:59
52 Matthew Tebo 31:02
67 Mikhail Sayenko 31:23
119 Matthew Frerker 32:19
Say what you will about them being in the middle of marathon training and what not - but McMillan ran like dog sh**.
What is up with the NYAC women claiming to have finished 3rd when they are 4th in the results?
why does everyone start asking for results like immediately?!! relax! give the dudes some time to post results, maybe have a few beers ! sheeeesh !
Because the results are posted and awards have been given out?
Did Felnagle lose her Adidas sponsorship? She ran unattached. That would hurt going into an olympic year.
do you mean with what is up with usatf incorrectly tacking an extra minute onto the NYAC's 4th finisher and NYAC wanting her actual time to be used in the results?
No, she didn't lose her sponsorship. For this meet, anyone who wasn't running for a club was listed as unattached, even though several of us have sponsors.
Impressive run by Reid, that guy has really started running well in the last year.
Proof?

This is second-hand information, but it appears that NYAC's 3rd runner was not included in their scoring. NYAC- A is used for the rest of their team, but NYAC - 1 is used for Infield? so she isn't included. I don't know if she wasn't declared correctly or wasn't entered correctly or what and I heard that NYAC may not have made a protest over the scoring until too late. There is a time limit for protesting results and they may not have reported it in time.
All second hand info, though, so this is not official information. If that person was included, it would push NYAC to 3rd.
The finish video has the proof of NYAC's 4th runner crossing the line 45-60 seconds earlier than where she is in the results. Infield probably isn't scoring for them because she isn't eligible to score for them based on the geographic rules for teams. When the original results came out NYAC was third and protesting that error wouldn't have bumped them to second, so there wasn't an apparent reason for them to protest it based on the unofficial results. Sure you could protest it to get more accurate results, but why go through the hassle when you're still going to be third? In contrast, Club Northwest had a reason (and every right) to protest which they obviously did, but by the time NYAC realized what was going on with Club Northwest and that the timing screw up was actually going to drop them a spot, USATF's protest window was already closed. I guess you can say rules are rules (which means they need to be changed so the results are correct no matter what), but USATF should be able to say 'A mistake was made and we are obligated to report correct results...' I don't think anyone can argue it is pretty messed up to keep incorrect results when you know a mistake has been made and you have the power to fix it. Also, it should be mentioned, from what I've heard, the Club Northwest manager/team were class acts regarding this issue and agree that NYAC was indeed 3rd.
134 Jonathon Riley 32 Bowerman Athletic Club-A 32:35
Good to see the guy is still out there racing and competing, even if he's not training full-time.
Also, interesting that he joined Conner's crew at UP. That adds a bit of a twist to the Dubar to Oregon situation. Guess Conner+Riley didn't quite stack up.

No twist. Riley hasn't helped out with Portland in ages. Left awhile ago.
The same thing happened to the Team Nebraska Brooks open men. Adams was 10th but not included in the team score and listed at "Team Nebraska Brooks-1" while the rest of the team was "Team Nebraska Brooks-A". Not sure what causes an error like that. They weren't in contention as a team but that would move them from 28th to 19th.
That's an unfortunate break and USATF should act like it is still a professional organization and amend this errant result. As for your 'why go through the hassle' comment, IMHO protesting any mistakes even if it didn't change your team's positioning is worthwhile. There is always a small chance it would affect another team's positioning behind you and that could matter to them, plus it preserves the integrity of the race's official results if anything is changed in your favor.Still, aside from that nit, great races for your NYAC men and women.
There was some sort of chip error with Cheryl from NYAC that resulted in the wrong time/place for her. I think she was credited with finishing 92nd or so, when she should have been 48th. It would have been about 30 points difference for their team, and they would have been third.
They waited too long to protest. It was stated several times in the technical meeting, and there were multiple people from NYAC in that meeting (and this is in the rulebook) that you have an hour after it is announced that results are posted to protest. They didn't discover the error until after everyone had left the course and were back at the hotel. Well outside the one hour window, and I think the timing guy was on his way back to California, so there really wasn't anything that could be done at that point. It's not like they protested at an hour and five minutes.
Each runner had their own packet that had a sticker on it with their name, and in tiny print in the corner, their number. Inside the packet was a front number with this same sticker on back, a hip number, a back number for masters, and two chips that each had the number written on them. I would think people might notice if their chips didn't match their bib number? But if everything in the packet didn't match the tiny number of the sticker, that would be easy for the athlete to miss.
There were multiple athletes on my team (Club NW) that had numbers/chips get mixed up somehow. There's no way these athletes mixed them up with each other, whatever was in their packet was wrong. The packets were stuffed by volunteers on Thursday, I think that is where most of the mixups happened. I personally stuffed about half of the masters women's packets, and I don't think there were any errors there (and if there were, it must have been in the ones I didn't stuff!) ;)
I think the plan is to update the results and credit the athlete with the correct time/place but leave the team scores the same. The facts will be relayed to our open women, it's up to them to decide if they want to send medals/prize money to NYAC. As far as I am concerned, they are adults and can make this decision themselves.
It's a really unfortunate error all around. A good reminder to teams that they need to check results carefully, and certainly a good reminder to timing companies/LOCs that they need to do everything possible to make sure that everyone is getting the right chips.

I'm not familiar with this one. Do we know for sure that Adams lives in the appropriate Association? Did his jersey match his teammates' jerseys?
