What kind of DI head coach says this? You are not a DI coach. No chance. If you are, tell us who you are.
DI sit-at-the-computer-and-masturbate coach, perhaps.
You got me with that one dude. To the previous poster who suggested I'd be out of my mind to think he wouldn't go "out" for the night after a good workout or race - that's when your body has the most to gain from the workout...not during it. Stressing the body to that extent and then RECOVERING from that stress provides you the necessary adaptations you are working so hard for. Hell, I tell my team I'd rather they booze it up the night before a workout or earlier season race than the night following. Yes, I'm aware a lot of college kids will anyway. But I can promise you that if your one of those putting away the alcohol every weekend because it's "after the race" and in a respectable DI program, your coach either:
A) Has your file for safe keeping
B) Has written you off
C) Is watching the coaching openings thread very closely
I actually appreciate the AJ Acosta example here. He's the perfect example. I personally know he was on egg shells during his career at OU because of his habits. Sure the guy is very talented, ran some very good races & kicked some ass. But he never won the big title (footlocker will only take you so far) & has yet to come close to making the team. You think he's wondering why he doesn't have a contract now? Now, it's Friday night and I need to get back to my divorce papers.
