Isn't the point and most of the talk on these forums about American distance running? And developing it? Yes, there's exceptions and so forth.
For example, Anthony Famiglietti is a two time olympian and only got 75th at NCAA xc. What happens if a talent like him needs money to run in college and is passed up for a foreigner? I know it doesn't blatantly always work that way, but it certainly does not help American distance running in anyway.
Rip away, but I'm all for American distance running. As previously stated, it's nothing against foreigners, but more so, lack of coaching, in which, taking much older Africans that are more developed over Americans. In short, giving a cold shoulder on a possible (great/future) American runner.
Personally, this is why I cheer for Wisco bearing just one Canadian, OU, and CU are other American runner based D1 schools. And it IS possible to be a good coach and build up previously wrecked programs. Look at OU 3 years ago, there was no program at NCAA's. And now, perhaps Columbia will be the next OU in a couple years, after seeing them make their way onto the scene today. That'd be a sight to see!
Just my two cents. I'd love to have a respectful debate about this.
