What is this, skull and bones? Omerta? The CIA? Newsflash- it's just running. You may be pridefull of the program's long success, multiple championships, etc, but unless you guys signed some sort of non-disclosure document, people get to write about their life experiences. No one has to read them, and no magazine has to buy them. But you are and they did. As for timing, lets face it: an article contrasting coaching styles, especially around a big meet, is probably going to get the most interest around that meet.
Nice. Let me give it a try: I was on a nationally ranked HS XC team, Div 1 XC team, paratrooper in the Army, worked in a Big 8 accounting firm and runner up in intramural ping pong. Unless you've done this you just don't...oh what the hell - write whatever you want.
It is a shame that our sport is relegated to blogs and internet forums but it is what it is. Kudos to LRC, Flotrack and others, warts and all, for allowing me to keep up with and gain a little insight into the sport that I love.
That being said I can't wait for next Monday.
BTW - Rojo, great post.
