EXACTLY!! that's a good a$$ reason, run NCAA out of shape, or use that time to get in shape for the olympics... hmm hard choice there chef, only 1 career, like I said!

LV has left oregon
http://www.usatriathlon.org/news/articles/2011/11/111011-verzbicas.aspx
From his twitter
"Thank you to University of Oregon, coaches, and teammates for the unmatched experience and support. I wish you nothing but the best of luck."
DUDE, GROW UP! you just wish you were good enough to have a decision like that to make. never mind what H8rs say
Youth , blind determination , hopefully it works out for him.
I think being number in High School to being just being 1 of 7 on a x-country team , with maybe not even placing in the top 50 at nationals blew his mind.
The tri at his level and age group are far easier to be on the top with his type of talent.
The sport of running just lost a good one....

An extra 3 weeks of XC training would have had no impact on 2012. Could have actually helped more than hurt. Regardless, he took scholarship money and bolted his teammates and team. Not a very classy act.
thats some unfair speculation, just because he had some bad races doesn't mean he is quitting because he doesnt want to be # 5 on an XC team, what proof do you have of that?
How can you make that judgment?????????? isnt that for Vin to make??? what if VIn told him to go?? exactly!!! get out of here with you assertion not founded in fact!! its Vin's money and he can spent it how he wants!
He competed for the US, so there would be a three-year wait before he could switch, I think.
Flotrack was right, the Brojos lose this round.
Of course it could be that he just didn't want to waste too much time doing something that wasn't right. His coaching situation before Oregon was working very well, why change what works?
Afterall, don't we all wish Alan Webb and German Fernandez would have made this decision and made it this early on?
Here is a link to Philip Hersh's story on the Tribune website... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/chi-verzbicas-status-at-oregon-uncertain-20111110,0,3058211.story
Let's not make too much of this. Was he going to make the 2012 Olympics in any running event? No. In the triathlon? Quite likely. I expect to see him running on the track again in 2013.
My thoughts exactly I mean it's called being a man. I don't care either way tri or running, but the kid is running away cuz he ain't an instant success. Let's hope he never gets beat at the triathlon cuz he'll probably quit that too. What a dumb F*er
[voraciously chewing gum]
Like I said Lukas doesn't owe anybody anything but for his
own personal and family obligations. Although I would liked
for him to pad his IAAF resume. The kids got time.
So lets all give him the benefit of the doubt and send some love.
You mess with Lukas, you're messing with Rosie, got it get it good.
Honestly I hope the kid gets his ass kicked at whatever he tries just so he'll learn that life doesn't always fit into a nice little package. I mean what a disappointment to say the least. We're always wondering why the east Africans rock the shit out of us. Guaranteed there's not some east African pretty boy out there who goes home and cries if he isn't an instant success.
Just take the dude who won the 10k this year. Had to go through a ton just to get on the team. And this whole luke v nonsense is 20 time worse than webb. Webb at least gave it a year. This kid didn't even give it a season. Whatever though, another one bites the dust as it were.

If you honestly think he'll make the Olympic team next year, you obviously don't know much about professional triathletes.

Just an observation but I think most on this website would probably take pride in that statement.
His odds of making the 2012 Olympics in either the triathlon or any track event are very slim. I don't get why he didn't at least finish the XC season. He let his team down. Him leaving probably knocks Oregon out as a top 10 team.
I don't think its a disappointment to say the least - yes for you CC and T&F fans will cry on your pillows boohooing over a lost potential. His insurance right now is the Triathlon. Sorry, but I ain't buying the "sticking it out" argument. What was there to prove with CC? It's not like Oregon needed LV? And besides there a win, win situation in all this - it's called realizing ones potential and setting ones own goals. No one bit the dust just the bullet. Poof!
