Ok, Willy Hillbilly, let's figure this'n out.
Now, you got a guy up there sez downhill skiing is a sport, right? It's in the Olympics, right? Let's do a little comparison.
Downhill skiing requires a ton of strength pulling those g-forces down hills. You gotta have great coordination to get around corners, etc. Now, endurance may not be an issue - at least, the skiis and gravity are doing the majority of the work. You look at some skiiers and they don't much look like athletes...Picabo's got a little pudge going on, if you know what I'm saying (wink).
Now, in NASCAR, I got a little pudge going on, too...see my jowls? Now, NASCAR also requires you to be strong. You can deny it, but man, pulling those g's around corners at 150mph wears you out - 4 turns for every lap at Indy is 800 turns, pulling those g's. Just like downhill, you gotta have great coordination at tremendous speeds - ever try and pass a guy from 6" off his bumper at 150mph? I thought not. Now, just like downhill, the car's doing the majority of the work. See, I'm just steering the car....just like the skiier is steering the skiis.
Now you tell me how downhill skiing (where you can be fat, but have good hand/eye, some endurance, and be strong) is a SPORT and NASCAR (where you can be fat, but have good hand eye, some endurance, and be strong) is not a sport?
