This board is so much quieter compared to when German has a bad race.

Well, yes, but don't you just ignore the trolling junk anyway?

It can be rather time consuming, trying to ignore the vast majority of the content on the message boards!

Fernandez has zero chance of winning NCAA XC next month. The following names will finish ahead of GF: Derrick, Lalang, Chelimo, Hill, Levins, Estrada.
Case closed.
I don't agree with counting German out for top 2-3. But I admire you putting yourself out there. Posters too often say, 'Gee, anything an happen', then surround an opinion with a paragraph of disclaimers, in case they're wrong. Spit it out like you did, I say.
NCAA's are 3 weeks away and I predict an Okie win. Not only are their top 5 tough, but #6and7 will be great pushers, as they aren't that far behind the scoring 5. Wisconsin doesn't have a 6and7 runner that is close to their top 5. If one of their top 5 has a bad day...well anything can happen at NCAA's. I predict Lalang as Champ. There I'm out on that limb.
Fernandez definitely has the capability to be top 5. Thing is, will he go all out? At some point I feel like he needs to test his limits and blow one out. If for no other reason, just to see what his potential is right now. Running conservatively for the team is great and all, but at some point, German needs to shoot for some individual accolades. Especially as a senior who will likely be looking for sponsorship after this year, I would think he would try and show that he can be something on the world stage some day.
The kid is obviously strong and talented enough where the worst thing that should happen is he slips a few spots. Its doubtful he completely blows up.
Of course, Solinsky did one year, so I guess its possible. But hey, you gotta have confidence that you'll be ok or else you're sort of dead in the water anyway.

Looking at the video from Big 12s it doesn't look to me like GF is holding a whole lot back. Looks to me like he is basically even with CL and not really in superman mode (at least not right now).
I didn't see the video. Assumed he just ran with Colby and they tried to tie. If not... good on him to go for it!
He got a late start to training for the season after a long lay off...so big improvement in the last few weeks seems likely;
Plus, I hear he's got some new shades he's gonna bust out for nat's.

So tired of hearing how German is jogging it in for the team (year after year), I think it more likely he was going all out just to manage this and will be 97th, DNF, DNS, or something again when it matters. Don't think he's that good, or ever was.

Correction, one more name that will finish ahead of GF: Korir.
GF will finish no better than 8th place overall.
yeah, 3:55 as a freshman indoors by himself was nothing.
It has not been OK St's m.o. to go for individual wins, but I would like to see him and Lowe really go for it, rather than just taking the safe route and finishing 6/7. Right now, I have Lalang, Derrick, Puskedra (always shows up strong at NCAA xc) ahead of everyone else. Is Sambu competing? If so, he'd be second. I don't think there's any decent way to predict what German will run, given his history. But he certainly had more than enough talent to win multiple titles in xc.

How'd he do at Indoor NCAA's that season? Answer: DNS.
I wonder if we did some research whether we could find a guy who ran a state record at some local invite, but only won one state title, and rest of his high school career was mediocre to bad, but mostly bad (97th/DNF/DNS). Build a cult around him, put him in the hall of fame above a guy with 7 titles and 3 trips to Footlockers and more records.

I'd like to see Fernandez finish top 3 as well, but doesn't he have an outdoor track season to go for the individual accolades that will lead to sponsorship?
I'm guessing that the OSU guys would rather win the team title than individual accolades and will run for the team win. And good for them.
Your Spanish sucks.Orale!Viva la Raza!Mi hermano German es el mas chingon!

With 280 clustered runners and lots of great OSU'ers to run with- It'd be pathetic that German slowing & not racing his best, would help the team. That Colby and others would require his sub-100% effort for them to race their best. Then again- runners are so scared to compete, that most won't consider leading, until 98% of the race is over. Then they make excuses why.

2008 Big 12 XC Champion
20011 Big 12 XC Champion

USA XC Jr Champ (beating Derrick and Puskedra handiily)
11th WJR XC (beating Derrick and Puskedra handily)
4-5 Big 12 track titles (don't feel like looking it up)
This is not mostly a bad career.
Considering he has been injured in his last two track seasons, and injured in his 2nd xc season. He has done a lot in a little. Also, he was in 3rd place before falling as a freshman.
