OP, please report in on how your son had done!
I have (had) a co-worker who my company recruited as a new college grad. BSEE. He worked for us in San Jose for about 4 years and left about a month ago to go do encryption s/w development at Amazon. He did EE h/w and s/w (C++) development at my company. His salary at Amazon? $200K, according to him. Not including whatever bonus/RSU and such. The location of his new job is Palo Alto.
The post you responded to was from 8 years ago, dummy. Things change.

My son wants a to be a $200,000/year Silicon Valley Software Engineer when he's 22. He's 15 and plays WR on theFB team. We live in the Midwest. Aside from the obvious (UCR, UCI, USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal Tech, Cal, UCSD, UCSC, UCD, WCC Conf, Cal Polys, Cal States) which schools are best ? (I want a good return on the investment I make in my son).
Is there anything he actually wants to create or a problem he wants to work on? And you kinda imply that you see your son as a financial investment. Geez. From the little you wrote, your whole family culture sounds depressing.
